Taking Korea

Fri Jul 15, 2011 12:12 am

How Japan supposed to take Korea or Manchuria from China if there is need of 2000 warscore to take each? 20 years china war/occupation?

And even if you gain this urealisticaly high warscore, you will be not allowed to send Peace Offer, because it needs warscore in range of 0-1000.

Sry for somehow misunderstanding you...Has you experienced that really or is it an assumption...??

It seems somewhat too high to me, sry...

And if you tried to take Korea which is a vassal of China ingame have you even tried to conquer the Chinese capital and additionally the most objective towns in eastern China...?? That you must do so with Korea is very clear for me but what are you told by any tooltip at the diplomatic menu sofar hovering about the warscore...??
I would assume that you can get Korea after around 10 years after conquest and if you are able to hold the main chinese objective towns if not all of China...
But for that you need a very big force which you must support in any way with supplies...
Is there no special event to recreate the main Sino-Japanese War in the late 19th century or have you done sofar very soon after the Meji Restoration as I would do so...??

heartly greetings

It is 1877 now. War lasts for three years. Manchuria and Korea fully occupied. All northern China occupied, Bejing burned to ashes. All southern ports and islands occupied. Most of strategic cities controled and garrisoned by japanese troops. And only 362 warscore. For Korea need 2174 ws now.

And if you achieve ws more then 1000 Peace Offer option will dissappear.
Odd observations.

Seems like a kind of bug to me although it is a long time since school days I assume there could be some little fault inside an alghorythm but I think that would be nothing too complicated to be solved in a certain time...

What year is it? Do you really want to annex all 9 provinces of Korea at one time? Do you have OPTIONS -> GAMES -> EXTENDED CLAIMS on or off?

As far as I know, Korea was annexed by Japan in 1910, after a long period of gradual influence over the country. Annexed not through war, but through gradual slow non-violent occupation. Defeating China merely moves Korea from their sphere of influence to yours, not annexation...

Well, historically Chinese kicked the Japanese out of Korea again and again, for more than 400 years after Shoguns united Japan as a serious military power.

China made Korea paying tribute since 1630s, cannot be reversed by walking in.

Remembering from school (with all the stressed teachers ^^) , Japan dictated Korea a kind of bilateral policy due to the Treaty of Kanghwa for more than 30 years
Korea even used to be a formal protectorate from 1905 to 1910 before being annexed in 1910

i guess it was not planned, but you got a historical valid situation in a not historical war (latter one should have started in 1894)

Its about little further balancing.

had same problems with the cherokee (before they were set to be a neutral nation in the last patch), after 4 years of military occupation i decided to let them have a province just to raise new units i would be able to overrun and get additional victory points.

anyway, system makes mostly sense and needs only balance

You can check out the gamelogic.txt in the settings folder and change some options dealing with warscore. Increase the max amount and also increasee the amount you get when you conquer lands.

Ofcourse not annex (In PoN Japan have no claims over Korea only SoI, so no annex. EXTENDED CLAIMS ofc off). I simply want to denounce chinese protectorate status over korea. And it wiil cost 2174 ws to secede colony, but it is only possible way. And the year is not the case, nothing will change in 1905.

P.S.
Well, i think, i will fight Munchu Dynasty for about year more to cripple and hummiliate them further, then i create event to nulify their status over Korea and Formosa island. That will be fair.

see, lad, just my point of view:

PON was not developed for running around with doomstacks and steamroll developing countries in the 1800s
it is event based and until now, ´lil here and mostly there, way of unbalanced.

In your case, warscore was never a problem, for you are not playing the game as supposed, you already decided to recreate history and doing childish talk about humiliating AI.

historically you would have been already beaten up by Chinas superior manpower (what even happened 30 years later with far more modern and deadly weapons) or british and french intervention (maybe a third opium war htis time against japan)

Play your style of slash ´n hack as long as you want, but dont cry out loud for changes in war score needed for unintended political actions.

YOU have already taken a decision against the strategy for playing merely tactical.
just create your new events for YOUR game after perverting THE game.

next time ask for the console to create events in the first place.
be somewhat smarter, create an event giving you a protectorate of Korea

good date therefor would be, 1876 (i understood you had already war that time)

it was the "perry event" for japan regarding Korea, the above mentioned:

"The Japan-Korea Treaty of Amity, also known as the Treaty of Ganghwa or Treaty of Kanghwa, was made between representatives of the Empire of Japan and the Kingdom of Joseon in 1876.[1] Negotiations were concluded on February 26, 1876.[2]"

I do not get what you talking about. I ROLEPLAY Japan in my game, but i am not playing a SCRIPT. And even if i play a historic script, i MUST take Korea, but there is NO way to do it.
