Why VGN crush Victoria

Sat Jun 20, 2009 9:36 pm

I play victoria (sweden, prussia and japan) the game is good, but has something dark i dont known, is quite weird.

But VGN (as all ageod games has something especial) its going to be beter

.Probably has a better AI

The concept of market is more realistic

.The stile of the map and general loor is more colorful.

.As only 8 nations are playable, the events, objectives and war may be better

and many more reasons... :bonk:

If for no other reason the fact that VGN is turn-based makes it better as far as I'm concerned. I agree though, there are many reasons why I think VGN will be better than Vic.

Well, strictly speaking, Victoria was also turn-based, just that it had very short turns... ;)

I have had hours and hours of enjoyment with Victoria, and I do think it will be slightly unfair to Vicky to compare her to VGN.

However, I do know (and this is with the inside information I have ;) ) that VGN will be a truly great game; something worth looking forward to, and worth the wait (even if it currently isn't feasible to tell you how long that wait will be exactly)

...and you forgot, also with an automatic end turn mechanism, so you did not have to press the "End Turn" button... :siffle: :D

Mhhhh.

Don't know, I have the feeling that the provinces in VGN are way too big. Or am I missing something?

I should hope that VGN does crush Vicky. The game is much more up-to-date, and so I'd expect it to be a vast improvement.

Haha! Yeah you hinted at VGN a few times, so I figured I'd join here last time you were on about it a few weeks ago. I've just not posted here since joining.

Regarding only provinces size, I think that VGN will be a good compromise between games like Gary Grigsby's World at War and Hoi3.
You'll have sufficient room to maneuver armies and also manage the different on-map assets, in a easy readable format (thanks also to a powerful zoom).

Here you are, gentlemen. Proof positive that I have been spending my valuable *alternate* forum time hawking the grand and noble virtues of VGN.

Please. No applause. You are encouraged to throw money my way, however.

Haha! I'm a student, remember - I have no money! :neener:

This game does look very good to me. As does that Rise of Prussia game by AGEOD. I may well invest in them both.

Given that AGEOD's and Paradox' games cater to the same audiences, this does not come as a surprise :)

Yeah, plus with games like VGN - and Paradox seemingly vowing never to do a sequel to Vicky - then it just makes AGEOD even more appealing.

Good to see that you are doing well on this forum, Rafiki. Admin ;)

I also recall seeing Jayavarman and Ayeshteni both skulking about these hallowed halls. I could swear that I remember Rafiki mentioning OHgamer's name in one of his posts as well, although I may well have been imagining that.

(There is a member named OHgamer, although I don't know if it is the same one we know and love from Victoria. Says he's from Columbus, OH. Hmm.)

I expect we will all pretty much eventually show up, one way or another. :neener:

[EDIT - How could I forget alexander seil?]

I'm assuming everyone knows Generalisimo.

Yes it's the same member. So we have here a strong community coming from Victoria, for the best.

Its time to out myself as a decent paradox player and as a lurker in the forums there, but under another nickname. I have played Victoria for a long period and many of the other titles too,but my heart beats more and more for AGEOD, because of their lovely made games like WIA and AACW and the upcoming releases like VGN, which I am eagerly awaiting. The same is for RoP too. And I hope even for a Space 1889-like game, eventually with the same title.

greetings

Back on topic, if VGN isn't better than Vicky, I'll laugh uncontrollably for several minutes. Even Johan said he hated Vicky. :D
