Overall, 1.04 improved the AI quite a lot and makes the colonial game a better challenge. Now the immortal garrisons are gone and the lag for F4 removed, I reckon its the patch of choice - the visual problems around some screens are an irritant, but all in all its a lot better

I agree abouth 1.4 beta being a huge improvement, but the inmortal garrison bug is back in 1.4 (as far as I understand you say that bug is gone in 1.4 and thats not correct) and that ruins the whole thing.

I really would love pocus or someone invest some time into 1.4 PON beta in order to fix the inmortal garrison bug.

PON is a very good game with an enormous potential, it deserves something better.

the latest quickfix sorts out both the lag around the F4 screen and the immortal garrison bug.

I'm deathly afraid of the 1.04 patches and hotfixes and using 1.03 (e, I think).

I'm surprised how often patches to this game have introduced newer, bigger problems.

Yeah, but I do have faith in these guys. I've recently re-addicted myself to PoN and the more I play the more I'm impressed by what this game is. I also started looking at what can be modded (and how) and again I'm very impressed by the thought they put into it. :coeurs:

I find the game compelling too. I can't stop playing it.

But the AI seems shockingly hollow. It can't even respond to scripted events correctly, and I sort of feel like I'm playing by myself.

Suez canal bug & canal captured !

Random wrote:Using 1.04RC2 in an ongoing game (France 1878), the Suez Canal still does not seem to work as intended. No Player nation passage through the canal is possible and I parked some ships in the Red Sea to try and determine if the AI is using it but saw zero traffic in seven-turns.

Same for me (France as well). I didn't try having any riverboat passing through it, though...

Furthermore, I'm quite surprised that Egypt captured my canal because of bad relations. For a "historical game", having a Nasserian Egypt in the XIXth century is quite surprising ! Anyway to regain my canal? (I have no casus belli for that, although that would be excepted, seeing the Suez 1956 crisis...).
