A fascinating read about the history of war gaming. This is a must for every boardgame General! Wow, had no idea Kriegsspiele were such an old invention.

This is much related to RPGs rather than wargames, imo. Another read, instead, would be: War Games: A History of War on Paper

It also speaks of RPGs. But the secondary title is: "A History of Simulating Wars, People and Fantastic Adventures from Chess to Role-Playing Games". It encompasses everything. I really like the story about wargames back in the 19th century Prussia.
