How does reaction work?

Tue Jun 22, 2010 1:04 pm

I think I figured out Interception. During your turn, you book and army for interception and, if an enemy unit moves within range, you are prompted for interception. If this is wrong, please advise.

However, I can't figure out reaction. Do you also need to do this during your turn? Or do you wait until the enemy turn?

If anyone could provide a detailed description of the mechanics (mainly of reaction, but also interception to make sure I have it), I'd appreciate it.

Already discussed somewhere else. You can book a reaction during enemy turn (use Pause key to pause AI). Select an army and click the Reaction button. If successful (test outcome depends on distance from HQ and ability of GHQ commander-in-chief), the reaction takes place between one enemy army activation and the next one. When you react, activate the army and do your moves. Then, at the end of your activation, the enemy turn is resumed.

OK. I searched for reaction, but didn't find it. Sorry for making you repeat.

Try to use the WEGO mode.
Army to Army mode is not interesting.

I disagree; in my opinion, the army to army mode is the way to go. Personally, I feel like I have more control over what's happening on the different fronts, because not every move happens at the same time. Also, I like to be able to react during the opponents turn from time to time. Aside from that, I believe it is also more realistic, especially when it comes to the difficulty of coordinating the moves of different armies together.

Of course, everyone is different, so to each his own I guess.

Poweraxe...I agree. I prefer Army-to-Army mode.

I also prefer the Army-by-Army mode as well. While I'm reading through the entire manual, I tried the Serbian by both methods (WEGO and Army activation) and found the activation method more challenging and fun. This mode really makes you think ahead which army you want to activate first.
