So its $39.99 for the upgrade?

Well if so what happened to the massive discount for previous owners? I mean talks of $10 where mentioned over at Matrix.

Actually Ive just come across the update patch. So does this mean the upgrade is free for previous owners?

Its a little confusing.

No, 39.99$ is for the full product.

If you want the upgrade, it's 9.99€ (around 14.99$), but make sure you already own the WW1 original version of course ;) .

Great news.

I have the original World War One from gamers gate. Is there a way to upgrade? I don’t see the gold version on gamers gate? Will you release a version there?

Since gamers gate use a nice open non-drm format I expect any upgrade will work but still…I like gamers gate

Nice to see this released, it's been great to betatest Gold. :)

What I hope is that the myriad of improvements in it will help returning players and newcomers alike (not to mention the ones trying the demo!) realize just what a wonderfully complex game this is! The "flavor" of the conflict (if it's prudent to talk about that in case of this great tragedy of Europe), the various factors in play from the nationality of troops through national will, combat abilities, naval and air battles, technologies, politics, warplans, to mutinies, national resurgence, revolutions etc. If it had an influence on the war, it is in the game (hey, even Mata Hari, or the Russian minister Polivanov, as events).
I think if you have not tried the boardgame or read the full manual, it will take some time to realize the sheer scope of it.

But of course, -much more with Gold than with the regular version, admittedly- it is very cleanly managable through the interface, and just like the boardgame managed to make all that a huge but playable "monster" game, the computer version manages to stay true to the boardgame, improve on it (like various political and economical stuff extended toward minor countries, something the computer can do but would have turned boardgamers insane!), and yet it keep it a game, with a very solid AI opponent.

Yes I am pretty sure it would work, but please wait for an official confirmation, because I am only guessing! :)

Well -being an impatient sort of man I suppose I’ll risk 10 Euro. Is there a link to the upgrade kit somewhere? Doesn’t seem to be available in the link provided to the shop here.

Simply go to "New Games" and then "WW1 Gold update kit" will appear in the second line. :)

I'm assuming this works on the GamersGate version, correct?

Oh, and hello forum...

EDIT: The upgrade thing, of course.

Ulver1 tried earlier today and haven't reported back about not working, so I guess it does. :)

gamersgate downloads are usually free of any specific DRM crap, so there should be no problem. Then again, you should ask Ulver to be sure :)

The upgrade kit should work ok on all WW1 versions. Please report if anything goes wrong :)

Right, thanks.

Guess I won't have to strech my patience to it's rather thin limits for buying this then :) .

I've been looking forward to this one. Just placed my order, but I have been unable to successfully download it. Clicking the "Download" button does nothing in Firefox and tells me the page is unavailable in Opera and IE. I've emailed Nexway for assistance - hopefully they come through quickly.

The link that shows up when you mouse over the button clearly shows the filename ( WW1_Gold_GM_Multi.exe ) at the end of a long string of other information. Something in the naming structure is likely corrupt.

It appears I can download the demo (it's downloading as I type) - is it possible to apply the activation code to the demo and end up with the full game?

Posted: Wed May 12, 2010 9:20 pm
by PhilThib
No, it won't work. But I'll see with Nexway that they fix this issue asap (unfortunately not before friday)

Thanks. I'll keep trying nonetheless and report back if anything changes.
