Description de quelques caractéristiques du jeu:

Some time between now and Nov 12th? ;)

We don't usually open discussion forums till games have been released, but if the discussions in e.g. this thread warrant it, it might be sooner rather than later :)

Greatly looking forward to this one. I enjoyed Guns of August very much, am greatly interested in The Great War (which is sadly underrepresented in the computer wargaming arena) and await this game eagerly. :)

Hi,

The code is 95% finished. The team is currently polishing the interface, integrating the final graphics (those published Cyberstratege are only artist boards, even if they give you the rough idea) and the data base (texts, scenarios, etc.). Beta testing will begin in september.

You can expect "juicy" WW1 features announcement on a weekly basis during september and october.

Regards,

Korrigan

thank god! :innocent: the map layout made perfect sense on a board game, but not so much on a pc screen

Err... I'm sorry to disapoint you but no. This is a game design stuff. :siffle:

I had the same reaction than you and here is roughly the explanation I got from Calvinus, the lead developer:

The map is loaded and displayed as a square which contains it. In this square, all the map, even the empty parts, is loaded.

But the european battlefield is longer than large. Hence, if we had chosen to display Europe in the conventional way, we would have needed a much bigger square with plenty of non-used space (up and down).

This would have meant a bigger RAM usage, hence more important minimum computer specs, hence less people able to play the game with absolutely no added value on the game play to make for it.

This is why we have decided to keep the original board game display.

I agree it's odd at first glance, but once you begin to play you very quickly get used and forget about it. :cwboy:

Korrigan

How long of in-game time will each turn consume? Will that be 2 weeks per turn as in AACW?

I've already stated my point about Autria-Hungary flag on other places, hope that will be corrected.
I can't help having noticed that there is among neutral Mexican flag. Any possibilities for What if in America and South America? :sourcil:
Would be great to drag in Argentine in Entente, Chile in CP etc... :coeurs:

If you look at this screenshot from the cyberstratege interview it actually looks like the game really covers the whole globe, with the bottom right world maps also showing South America and Australia. So your wish might come true :siffle:
Image

Edit: Actually reading the article (though my last french lesson dates 20 years back...) it might be that they 'just' represent off-map boxes. So it might be similar to the activation of the French and English in ACW:
