Announcement - Expansion pack for AACW!

Tue Apr 01, 2008 10:28 am

Dear players,

AGEOD, makers of AGEOD’s American Civil War, and AGE-Studio are pleased to announce the publication of a standalone expansion pack for their award-winning game AGEOD's American Civil War.

Ageod's War of the Worlds (c)

OVERVIEW
AGEOD’S War of the Worlds (AWOW) is a science-fiction 'steampunk' operational strategy game with a simultaneous turn-based engine (WEGO system) that places players at the head of one of the major industrial power during the Victorian era (1861-1899) on the map of United States and Europe. Playlable nations are USA, France, Great-Britain, Germany, France, Russia, Austria-Hungary, CSA.

The Campaigns and scenarios feature the onslaught against Earth's industrial nations of extraterrestrial invaders from Mars, Venus or even beyond the Solar System. Starting dates include 1861, 1863, 1865 (with a what if USA-CSA stand-off, 1873, 1880, 1887), with either short scenarios or longuer campaigns.

Players are military and political leaders trying to let their country endure the ordeal, leading the troops of their nations (armies and fleets) to victory or achieving mere survival.

KEY FEATURES

AWOW CAMPAIGNS USP
• The largest War map ever, with unequalled look and detail levels, including the original AACW map and all of Europe!
• 8 playable nations, dozens of different troops, historical or not! (including the dreadful Martian Walkers, Venusian Spiders), hundreds of events, over 300 generals and heroes with unique abilities.
• New technologies to uncover like Nautilus-like submarines, Steam-powered machines and even Aerial Ships.
• The possibility to play one of the three Invaders, if the Campaign featuring them is beaten at the Hard Difficulty Level.
• Upgraded AACW engine with improved Military AI (massive improvement on the Invasion and Amphibious Landing system), a key feature of the game.
• The game is played in alternating phases of giving orders followed by simultaneous execution (known as WEGO system)
• Easy to play, hard to master, play a scenario over a few hour or a full X-turn Grand Campaign.
• A large selection of Scenarios (11) and Campaigns (5), some over 10 years long.

If the Martians can die from a cold virus will this be event driven or will it rather take the form of attrition to the invaders?

I believe it will be an option:

Effect of cold virus:
1. None
 2. Sniffles
 3. Stuffed head, can't sleep
 4. Laryngitis
 5. Chest cold, only good Bourbon helps
 6. Pneumonia
 7. Coma
 8. Death
:sourcil:

This is no joke.

Once you extract the expansion pack zip file, open an AACW campaign and press Alt+F4 to trigger the invasion.

I think we must start ASAP discussing the effects of mud on the movement rate of the Martian walkers. I feel that this will be a contentious issue... :niark:

At last redeployment of alien leaders will seem perfectly realistic

( and yet if it wasn't a joke, I'm pretty sure such a game could be a commercial success...)
