Seven Year War & American War of Independence novels?

Thu Apr 19, 2018 7:12 pm

Hi all.
I am seeking historical fiction novels based on the "Seven Year War" & American War of Independence.
I am currently reading the Prequel to the "Jack Absolute" novels in which the young hero is blooded on the plains of Abraham while assaulting Quebec.
I have heard of the James Fenimore Cooper series that included "Last of the Mohicans" but I also hear that they are rather long-winded.
Could anyone suggest more recent novels, preferably a series of novels based on the time period mentioned?
Many thanks

So many good books. Personally I am a fan of James Fenimore Cooper, but he is not everyone's cup of tea. The movie 'The Last of the Mohicans' really captures how I feel about his books. But for other options:

French and Indian War -
The Matchlock Gun
Into the Wilderness
Fire Along the Sky
The Long Portage
Song of the Mohicans

American Revolution -
Johnny Tremain
Drums along the MohawkThe Swamp Fox: Francis Marion
The Glorius Cause
The Bastard (and the other John Jakes books)
Someone Knows my Name
The Accidental Spy

These are some. I mostly read non-fiction, but so many good novels.

I can recommend a couple I have read and liked:

Robert Graves "Sargent lamb". Two novels about American revolution

Kenneth Roberts "northwest passage" about F&I war
Regards
