Army organization: number of allowed Corps

Thu Jul 17, 2008 9:33 pm

In Napoleonic Age Army Commanders were severely limited in the number of Corps they were able to command with full efficiency.

The decay of Napoleon performance on the field over years was often explained by the increasing amount of men he was trying to command.

We should have a limit to the number of Corps an Army leader can control or attach to his Army Command in NCP.
It could be a factor related to the Strategic Rating of the Army Commander.
Otherwhile we could have Strategic Rating of the Army Commander worsening and decreasing as the the Number of Corps his Army control increases.

Lets look at history. In his and la Grande Armee's prime, in 1805-6, Nappy's active army controlled nine Corps sized groups. At a strategic rating of six, this would indicate 1.5 x ability. 6 +3 = 9. This to suffer no ill effects.

He utilized additional army level HQs in 1812 and 1813, realizing he could control no more than that, effectively. The other armies were smaller than his main army, but their commanders were not as good as the master himself.

Lets look at the game!
If in a scenery you have 3 Armies, and the second two are controlled by low rating leaders player is tempted to move Corps from the the two last to the first Army leaded by the strongher leader!

Hi
It already works like this (at least in AACW and i bet in NCP too).
An army can have as many corps as his commander startegic rating + 6 (i think, not 100% sure about the number)
So Nappy max would be 12 coprs. And a Regular Amy commander would have a 9 or 10 limit.
Regards
