Since you asked about modding elsewhere; which changes have you made to the game (if any)?

Models are either duplicated or missing

It involves 1549 or possibly 1548 or 1550 [error messages are slightly confusing]

Something appears to be awry with model 1549, as the line preceding indicates all models were read...
Always ask yourself: "Am I part of the Solution?" If you aren't, then you are part of the Problem!

Oh, I downloaded Nikel's Generals Portraits MiniMod and that's all.

The mod was included in the game with the last patch, that you can download here

http://www.ageod-forum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=138

So if your NCP was updated it was not necessary that you installed the mod, perhaps that was the problem?

1549 is Bardet, not included in the mod, as 1550 Barrois.

The problem must be with Barbou, 1548, that had a protrait included in the mod.

My personal recommendation is: uninstall the game, delete completely the NCP folder, install the game again, update to the last patch and forget the mod.

If you do not want to uninstall look at this folder

"Napoleon's Campaigns\NCP\GameData\Models"

Do you have two files starting with 1548?

I will delete the mod, so this is not happening again

The trouble is not with Nikel's mod: he did a great work as regard as stated by AGEod developers. :D
The problem is possibly with alias file, models at first.
With last patch versions something was changed into NCP Model DB, so they are not compatible with Nikel's Leader portraits mod.
BTW, all Nikel's portraits from his old mod have been lately officialized and included into last patch versions: no need to install Nikel's mod. It's already in the patch!
Ney: The army will not move!
Napoleon: The army will obey me!
Ney: The army will obey to its Generals’ orders!

Sounds like the mod has a comptibility problem with the lastest official patch. If that's the case, seems it is neither a mod or patch "bug". They are just not compatiable. Of course, from what all are saying, the mod is also not needed with the patch.
