1812 Russian Campaign - More historical Russian AI

Sun Feb 09, 2014 4:52 pm

This quite simple mod for the 1812 Campaign will give the Russian AI a more historical behavior, focusing it on defending Russia and, if possible, destroying the French forward depots to hamper Napoleon's advance towards Moscow.

Installation guide:
1. Save the original AIGuide_1812 Campaign.inc (NCP/includes directory)
2. Unzip the attached file in the NCP/includes directory

Yes, that's already inside the default script12.ini that includes the AIGuide_1812 Campaign.inc AI file.

AIGuide_1812 Campaign.inc is a .inc file. It means that it is read only when scenario is generated.

That means that your modification are not handle by the engine as your use a already generated scenario ( the original one).

You need to modify the .sct file if you want your mod to be used by the engine.

Wouldn't a bias (set local interest) less than 100 mean less interest to actually protect/conquer those places? Isn't the default 100? Same applies for the Theater (100 should be the default), but in that case may have been intentional.

try the original campaign with no fog of war, then try it with the changed .inc file.

As I understand it, the script12.ini is executed every time you start a new 1812 campaign, and it's the script that includes (and executes) the AIGuide_1812 Campaign.inc

Exactly....the main problem with the original campaign is that the Russian forces ignore the french advance and concentrate in the south to attack toward Warsaw.
Putting the AI "interest" to 20 for Austria and Germany, it focuses on Russia and tries to actually stop the French.

The .ini Script is used once when the .scn is generated.

The .scn file is used each and every time you start a new campaign.

Try to delele all .ini file and launch a game.

Not Blucher, but if you read the names of the Generals most of them are German Nobility or Baltic-German Nobility, Russia throughout its History imported commanders like Austria, even France, UK, Prussia and USA did early on and guess who- The East Prussian and Baltic Junker was the most preferred commander for all countries in Europe till 1913, starting from 1500 or so when the Teutonic and Livonia Order's Knights settled down in those areas and descended into Junkers.

Von Dellmelligsen, Von Wittgenstein, Von Saxe-Meningen, etc etc.
