NCP Modder Times installation

Sun Nov 16, 2008 1:33 pm

NCP Modder Times installation

The reported routine will guide you to the creation of a separate, duplicate installation of your default NCP program on your HD.
Any available Modder Time add-on and mod for AGEod NCP have been designed to be installed over "NCP Modder Times" installation. That will fix any compatibility issue between default NCP scenarios and Modder Times ones, and prevent your NCP default installation from corruption.

You need to have your own legal copy of NCP installed in your PC to create "NCP Modder Times" installation.

1a. Update your NCP installation to last available patch.

2. Locate NCP main installation directory: usually "Napoleon's Campaigns" folder. Open it and copy the full content.

3. Create a new void folder: "NCP Modder Times".
Paste the full content of "Napoleon's Campaigns" folder into "NCP Modder Times" folder.

4. Open "NCP Modder Times" folder: you'll find a duplicate copy of the original "Napoleon's Campaigns" installation.

5. Within "NCP Modder Times" folder locate NCP.exe file, (the one with NCP icon): RMC over it, (right mouse click) and select create new link. Rename the Link to NCP to "NCP Modder Times" and move it on your desktop.
You can now use "NCP Modder Times" link to initialize NCP Modder Times mod.

6. Within "NCP Modder Times" folder locate AGESettings.exe file, (the one with AGESettings icon): RMC over it, (right mouse click) and select create new link. Rename the Link to "NCP Modder Times setting" and move it on your desktop.
You can now use "NCP Modder Times setting" desktop link to recall the configure utility/menu so to set you NCP Modder Times installation resolution at will.

Notice: you can have different setting for AGEod default and Modder Time NCP installation.

7. Locate NCP/Scens folder: cancel any default installation SNC file. I recommend to play default NCP scenarios from your NCP default installation.
Indeed all files included in NCP/Scens folder should be deleted.

8. Unzip MTM Install WinRar, Copy the NCP folder and drop/paste it into "NCP Modder times" installation folder.

9. Inizialize "NCP Modder Times", configure the game menu at will, select a campaign:
Prelude to Leipzig - Germany: April-June 1813.
Struggle of Nations, Hist. Mod: Aug. - Dec., 1813
The Eagle's Return - Belgium: June 1815

These 3 Modder Times scenarios are available for selection, at moment.
A larger 1813 full campaign is in preparation!

I please anyone to report unquoted net pages relative to Napoleonic Age!
Thanks in advance!

École Polytechnique

Sun Nov 16, 2008 1:37 pm

École Polytechnique

Here users will get a list of new issues, being worked on or tested.
Most interesting ones could be exported to official game versions and official scenarios.

Foreign Intervention
It's an issues working in other AGEod games, (WiA, AACW), aimed to have neutral powers to possibly joint a side or faction in a scenario.
I'm at work to introduce it in Moddder Times scenarios too.

Dynamic scenario lenght
FE Counter, (see Foreign Intervention) and events, (see Extended Scenario Lenght Option from 1815 campaign) are put together to get a dynamic scenario end date. With that players cannot no more plan their strategy over a scheduled campaign end, but have to take in account the chance of a sudden conclusion.

Change Structure Level
This new command was recentely introduced in AGEod engine by Pocus: it was and till is tested in Modder Times scenarios.
It could change the level of any existing structure at any moment during a scenario: Depot, Fortresses, Harbours, Cities are possible targets for the new command.

Illustrated Military Option Ledger Pages
The issue was introduced in AGEod games with WiA.
I already introduced mods to NCP Modder Times installation to host pictures at Mil. Opt. Ledger pages.
Nikel is in charge of pictures editing!

Massive Change of factions OOB on the field
Worked by a massive sequence of related events, it allows to modify the organization of armies on the field during a scenario.
Division, Corps, Armies composition, units and models, Leaders in charge can be changed.
It's the key to link-up scenarios to get Grand-Campaigns
Ney: The army will not move!

Napoleon: The army will obey me!

Ney: The army will obey to its Generals’ orders!

Image

Here a screenshot from Ledger F5 page for April 1813, Prelude to Leipzig-April 1813, Var. I , NCP MD ver 1.01e beta.
Screenshot from Ledger F5 page at campaign end.

Notes:
Player side Coalition
It was a points victory: so we can argue scenario balance has been improved.
Athena is not very challenging, that's the feeling I got after some PBEM turns against Nikel.
Anticipated Dynamic scenario end triggered by FE counter worked: curiously Armistice was signed at historical matching date!

Image

Player side French
It was a points victory!
Anticipated Dynamic scenario end ruled by FE counter not triggered
 ... It's known I'm better strategist than Napoleon

Image

Up here The Eagle's Return, testing results from Carnium: Player side French.
He got a minor victory, but guess it's a good results looking to the COA advantage in matter of men on fields.

I just announced the Christmas Vacancies pause and I'm here back to post!

Image

This is a beta testing from Nikel over NCP MT ver1.01m, scenario Prelude to Leipzig.
Nikel Playing French side defeated Athena... it's better to say He crashed the AI opponent. Indeed he succeeded where I failed many times.
That will grant Nikel with the title of Mars: so a new God in AGEod Pantheon after Athena and Aphrodite.

Image
In reaction to Nikel brillian victory here is my Coalition side campaign from Prelude to Leipzig scenario: a major NM victory too!
Having some doubts over Athena's military genious!

I hope you're not implying that beta discussions can take place anywhere outside the beta forums?

No beta discussions should ever be in a place that can be viewed by the public.
Always ask yourself: "Am I part of the Solution?" If you aren't, then you are part of the Problem!

As you remember we left the beta or improvement team or whatever you want to call it

So we have no access to NCP beta forum

The uploads are unofficial unless AGEod members want to include them, it is up to them

jastaV created the social group, La Maison, in order to expand the discussion to other people to who jastav invited. But as anybody has access to it, it is like any other public part of the forum, so there is no point IMHO in discussing in those "private" social groups

Best way working over a campaign is producing many "variants", later to be tested to choose best one fitting historical events.
Someone choice is harder, in so far more variats are worth to be played.
Next Modder Times version, but many changes and improvements to old scenario will intriduce a new variant for April 1813 - Prelude to Leipzig scenario. :neener:
