Patch Question

Sat Feb 16, 2008 12:02 am

I just bought the game from Gamersgate. I noticed that it was version 1.0, so I went looking for a patch. Unfortunately, when I try to install the patch, it prompts me to create a new folder & file, as if it was a completely new installation. If I do so, the game is still listed as version 1.0. If I install the patch over the old files, the game crashes on start up.

What am I missing?

Hi Kleves!

The correct way is to install the patch over the old files. If you select the game directory take care that the patch installer does not create a new game directory in the old one (like ...\Games\Napoleon's Campaigns\Napoleon's Campaigns) and copies the files to this place. That happened several times to me. :bonk:
You can also install the patch to another place and copy it manually to the game directory, overwriting the old files.

Cheers

I attempted to copy the files manually, which not only took a long time, but didn't work. The game still crashes on start up. I looked in the Main Log, and found this:

2:49:07 AM [Warning ] TModel.Create The model 1561 Auguste-Jean de Caulaincourt has a TechUpg value of -2147483648 Check if
2:49:07 AM [Critical ] TListModels.Get Data container for models definitions has some discrepancies, for UID 11

There were more "warnings", but the one given is illustrative. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Hi Kleves!

I think my suggestion to copy the patch contents manually was not a good idea. The error which occurred now might be caused by that as the installer was not able to remove old model files which cause conflicts. Sorry sorry. :bonk:

Can you try this: Uninstall the game, delete all remaining folders, install it again and apply the patch.
If there are still errors please post the main log.

Cheers
Norbert

Still doesn't work. Here are the relevant portions of the log:

4:52:21 PM [Critical ] TMediaLibrarian.InitializeVoices Failed to find ini file for voices
4:52:21 PM (Reporting) TMediaLibrarian.GetMediaInfo: Unable to find MediaInfo for image: CloudAnim.png
4:52:21 PM (Reporting) TMediaLibrarian.GetMediaInfo: Unable to find MediaInfo for image: Explosion.bmp
4:52:21 PM (Reporting) TMediaLibrarian.GetMediaInfo: Unable to find MediaInfo for image: Factory Smoke.png

Everything else, according the the log, seems to have gone smoothly.

Hi Kleves!

Sorry to hear that you have still trouble. :(

Please take a look to the game directory
...\Napoleon's Campaigns\NCP\Sounds\

How many files do you have in this directory?
Do you have the file Voices.ini?

If it is missing: Please unzip the file attached to my post and copy it to this directory.

Cheers

Did you get the patch from Gamersgate? Sometimes patches from other sources conflict with ones from places like Gamesgate, Steam, etc.

Oh my! It seems Nobilis concluded a deal with Paradox (nothing to say about that), but they provided them with the 1.00 version, which need the 'foundation patch' before being patched as usual...

Please install the game, then this super patch:
http://ageoddl.telechargement.fr/latest/PatchFondation_NCP.exe

And then patch as usual.

I just got a chance to try the patch, and it turns out that it's in French. Can someone link to the English patch?
