Explanation of settings of Ageod games from folder SETTINGS

Mon Sep 07, 2020 1:49 pm

Having studied Ageod games for a long time and seeing how each setting causes constant questions from players (often without an answer from the authors), I decided to create a single table of settings - link

The settings from the main menu of the game are highlighted in yellow, the names of the settings sections are highlighted in pink, the settings that I understand and described are highlighted in gray.

I am doing a detailed description in my native Russian, but if someone is interested in this, I am ready to do it in English.

If someone here can explain the remaining settings or someone is interested in making a detailed translation of the description in English (or another) language - write to me here.

Thanks, while working on the table, I also used your explanations found on this forum
Anyone can edit this table. If you have a clear description of any line, then you can add English text in the column " E -Description in English " .
If you yourself are interested in the description of any of my settings, then I will try to make an English translation for them faster.

ps: The lines that remained on a white background - the description of which I did not find or did not think of myself.

if set to False, model DB don't have cost in conscripts, It changes how prisoners are calculated. Default Value is True

For aseTurnFreqProd. Set the assets production frequency (in turns)

Default value is 50.

That is, if loyalty = 50, will a bonus occur? Or with a bonus = 50

And please, write [= -1] or [= 1], otherwise it is difficult to understand what meaning you mean.

I continue to compile a complete directory of Ageod settings. link Settings Ageod

Does anyone know the meaning of the inoReplaceOverlayFour and inoReplaceOverlaySeven parameters?

I will also be grateful for any help in writing an English description of the settings (since I originally compiled a catalog in Russian)

Hello

inoReplaceOverlayFour

If set to False (0): Filter #4 (above minimap button) will display faction Loyalty
If set to True (1): Filter #4 (above minimap button) will display area of hierarchy -2.

Note : Area of hierarchy -2 is a ''tool'' for modders. I do not recall seeing them in any game.

inoReplaceOverlaySeven

If set to False (0): Filter #7 (above minimap button) will display weather zones
If set to True (1): Filter #7 (above minimap button) will display terrains

Hope it helps

Thank you for the information. it is a pity that such simple things are not documented anywhere and you have to look for everything.

inoOVLNumber - I think I understand what this parameter means, but a large spread of values in different games is misleading?
In EAW,ROP,CW2 he is 8 , PON=20 , and in RUS for some reason he is 24 ?

It makes sense for PON to have 20 Overlays as there is 20 fIlter buttons.
Also it makes sense for others games to have 8.
I do not know why RUS has 24, you can set the value to 8, it will have no impact AFAIK.

Yes, I thought that there was some mistake in RUS with this parameter. Moreover, both in RUS and RUS Gold are the number 24, but in the Fatal Year mod the value is 8.
By the way, in the Espana'36 game there are two whole lines with the inoOVLNumber parameter, in one the value 8, in the other 24.
And a couple of times I met the duplication of the same parameter in the same game with different values - which one will work?

Setting InoPeriodMapOverlay = 1 .
Its description "// display a period map instead of permablocked regions" is not very clear. Can anyone describe it in more detail?

If set to 1, when a region is permablocked (Blockstate = 2) ,the region XXXX is displayed using Flavor_XXXXRegion png and not the XXXXRegion.png
If set to 0, when a region is permablocked (Blockstate = 2), the region XXXX is displayed with a overlay (color defined by colPermaBlock ).

For previous question regarding duplicate settings, the first statement will be the one used by the engine because it is the last read, AFAIK,

Seems logical. But it's surprising that game creators made such simple mistakes.

Thanks for the helpful help. With your help, there will soon be no white spots in the table (I highlight the explained parameters in gray)

Another portion of unknown settings.
The description is too vague to understand:

aiCLR_LocalDistance = 3. ( //Seeking distance, short (keep it low)

aiCLR_StdDistance = 5. ( //Seeking distance, medium (fallback category will be all theater)

aiCMN_CbtPwrBigLine = 100. (// Combat power of a big line, will exclude it from some less important missions

aiCTM_ThreatValInFow = 75. ( // the value of a medium rate unit, generally")

For Land Resupply algorithm, to make it simple this algorithm handle the need for a stack to seek for supply.
If there is not enough supply the stack will look for supply
- in the regions within a range of 3 (aiCLR_LocalDistance)
-if the above is not a success in the regions within a range of 5 (aiCLR_StdDistance)
-if the above is not a success in the regions belonging to its theater.

For group AI agenda selection: If the group power is above aiCMN_CbtPwrBigLine, it will be not choosen for garrison or split group missions. it somewhat forces the AI to choose lowpower groups (militia) for non combat tasks.

For AI Theater prevalence and threat algorithm: Each region in FOW (fog of War) will be given a threat value. IHMO to avoid region in FOW having a value of 0 and being ignored by AI.

aiMSG_CounterGroupMaxDistanceInPercTurn = 150
// Maximum distance March Sound Gun (percentage of turn) for AI

But why is the value of 150% here ? What's the point of MSG more than one turn?

Practical question, If I set aseTurnIndexProd = 2 does that mean that regions/structures only produce every 2 turns? (I am playing with CW2 and 7 day turns, and it seems like changing the production to every two turns would make sure I don't double production by doubling the number of turns. Also, the settings file in CW2 lacks a aseTurnFreqProduction line it seems)

Also, if I modify the GameLogic file, should the change be immediate in the game or is there a cash file somewhere that needs to be deleted? (After changing the value, there seems to be no change in game)

To get production every 2 turns, you must add to gamelogic.opt :

aseTurnFreqProd = 2

There is not cached file for gamelogic but the modification will be effective once you start the game.
Currents saves will be affected by the modification

I have no input regarding this specific value. As it impacts gameplay, it is design choice.

Do be effective, does the command have to be in the gamelogic.opt ?

If I want it to apply to 1 campaign, could I write it in an event file as an event specific to that campaign?

Thanks in advance

To be effective, it has to be included in the gamelogic.opt
It is not a scriptcommand that can be included in a event.

cbtDamageCriticalHit = 200
can you give an exact description?

CbtLdrRecovHRAOBonusPerc ?

CbtLdrRecovMaximalPerc. ?

cbtPercDayBonusForRetreat = 500 ?

CbtProtCoef ?

CbtRetreatBaseCoeff = 50. - does this mean that when taking 50 damage, the unit will retreat?

cbtDamageCriticalHit.

DumbHit and CriticalHit are special hits for Naval combat.
These Hit calculations (Dumb and Critical) are outside normal hit calculations from battle engine
Both follow the same logic.

CbtLdrRecovHRAOBonusPerc

This a the bonus to Leader Recovery Percentage if the leader is rank=3 and seniority=1.

CbtLdrRecovMaximalPerc

The leader recovery percentage cannot exceed this value.

cbtPercDayBonusForRetreat

If a group is retreating, this value is the bonus applied to the numbers of days required to reach the targeted region.
i.e the the group will move faster than if not retraiting.

CbtProtCoef

coefficient (in 1/100) for each protection point (3 pts = 0.9 x 0.9 x 0.9 damages sustained if value is 90)
Used in Battle engine for hit proba calculation

CbtRetreatBaseCoeff

For retreat damage (in hits) calculation, this value is the base coefficient.
There is lot of modifier (faction, subunit ability, round #, etc..) for final calculation (hits while retraiting log message).

Should the command work for all AGE games, or only in later ones? I have added aseTurnFreqProd = 2 to my AACW2 gamelogic.opt, but it seems to have no effect.

In the gamelogic file, you will have to replace

//aseTurnFreqProd = 2

by

aseTurnFreqProd = 2

Having // prior to statement make the engine do not read it.
