Unit DB: area and altarea question

Thu Sep 15, 2011 12:15 pm

Hi folks, I know area is used to give a bonus or penalty to units depending on their location - but what of altarea?
Does it serve the same function?

If so you could limit a unit to MIDDLE_STATES and CANADA for example?

Thanks, Chris

Yes, this is the point, alt_ meaning "alternate" or "alternative"...FYI, in games where we have a construction module, this also serves as a designation of the areas where units can be built/raised...it uses the same kind of logic :)

be cautious with area, it will only work if the model is a militia or irregular. Alt also is only used as a fall-back solution if the recruitment area is invalid, and will not be checked for the rest.
