Force Pool Modifications

Will things go wonky if I change the force pool allowances?

Would I just need to add more names?

I assume you want to increase the number of brigades which are available in the recruitment ledger, correct?

There may be better ways, but this is how I would do it: Open an event file like "USA Events" and either write a new event or change some lines in an existing one.

E.g.: You could easily increase the number of Missouri troops in the "MissouriForcePool" Event.

The scripting command is:
ChangeUnitPool = $X;Y
X being the unit alias
Y being the number of this unit allocated to the force pool

Bad things that could happen?
- screws with the game balance
- incompatibilities if you want to play PBEMs

I'm not too worried about balance issues. I have played this game enough to have beat it in a lot of ways, and up until now I have never modded anything. So I am really just looking for a new way to have fun with this game I love. My primary concern was whether or not it would cause a crash down the line.

Do I need to add any unit names? Essentially, will I run out of names if I bump things up a bit in a few places?

Depends on how much you "bump things up".

The unit names are contained in the unit files (e.g. the first uni_USA_Bde1NY you build will be named French's Bde). In some cases the list of namers is rather short. If the game runs out of historic names, you will see generic names like "15th NY Brigade" instead.

But if you aren't planning to change ressource allocations, too, that propably won't happen.
