I second that! :coeurs: :coeurs: :coeurs:
Forrest said something about killing a Yankee for each of his horses that they shot. In the last days of the war, Forrest had killed 30 of the enemy and had 30 horses shot from under him. In a brief but savage conflict, a Yankee soldier "saw glory for himself" with an opportunity to kill the famous Confederate General... Forrest killed the fellow. Making 31 Yankees personally killed, and 30 horses lost...

He remarked, "I ended the war a horse ahead."

*Updated with new files*

Hi guys, I tried to improve upon judicious' awesome work on the new Army&Corps Badges.
Here is an example. Let me know if they are OK.
One possible problem with my version is that the Text ended up too dark on the Corps Badges. [fixed in update]
Hopefully it is OK because I would have to redo every badge to fix it. :(
The attached .zip includes the 53 Badges and 1 Photoshop .psd files.
Image

*Edit: Re-made the badges so that the text is brighter and easier to read.
Also consolidated the 2 .psd files into just 1 .psd file.

OK, couldn't stand releasing shody work so went back and re-made the badges that had dark text, now the text is brighter and hopefully easier to read.
Also consolidated the 2 photoshop files into just 1 file (for anyone that wants to make their own badges)

Edited the ealier post with the new file attached.

needs work

Thu Apr 23, 2009 12:55 am

tc237 said "OK, couldn't stand releasing shody work "

I worked on them for three weeks.Research and all.

I didn't change the text. It's the same that came with the original install.
Only added the flags.
The text tc237 made looks fine but the flags are transparent and stretched.
Quick job none the less.
Not my first time making flags for a game.
John Tillers BattleGround series Waterloo Gettysburg Shilo etc.
Thanks for the feedback anyway
Try to fix the text this weekend.

Also consolidated the 2 photoshop files into just 1 file (for anyone that wants to make their own badges)

Edited the ealier post with the new file attached.[/QUOTE]

I think he was referring to his own :)

I have to say that both of you are doing impressive work; the new look of your units is quite interesting (in a good way)

Yes, I read it that way too. He was talking about his own work, not yours so don't be offended. He didn't intend any insult.

Hey i'm not mad. Not trying to start a flame war.
Anybody can add to or modify the files as they see fit.
I misread the post .The original text under the csa is hard too see.
I still will try to fix. tc237 will be welcome to modify when I finish.
Everyone is welcome to contribute to the post.
Take care

new flags

Thu Jul 16, 2009 3:10 am

The new file is posted at the top.The Corps numbers are easier to read.
Now that I'm finished maybe I can work on that confederate marine unit.
I have found some very good sources as to what the uniform looks like.
Have fun with the new flags. :D
Best Regards

Great work !

Notice that the text below the french corps flag (badge_FRA_Corps.png) should be "Corps Français" (without any "e" )

Anyone still have these files around that wouldn't mind hosting them? The old links are broken.

In the how to use.txt file, the good folder is
\ACW\Graphics\Logos&Badges\Armies&Corps Badges,

and lol I don't know why the blue and red have been switched in badge_FRA_Corps.png file! :neener:
I reversed the two colors in the whole (it could be far better), see my file.

I think mine is already better. And correcting it farther would take me much time for a game I don't play... (but maybe one day I will..)
And maybe I'm wrong? French flag could have been sometime Red-White-Blue instead of BWR???

No I think you are right OP probably mirrored it when he originally did this.

anyone downloading the main file should overwrite with your French flag and take note of the correct folder.

Looks to be reverse of flag facing. Flag pole to the right wind carring it in other direction.
