Dromons classified as "warships"?

Mon May 19, 2008 8:47 pm

In the file BattleUnits, galleys belong to the sub-type "galleys," but the dromons and fire dromons are "warships." Does it make any difference?

Could there be a difference in naval attrition rates outside of the Mediterranean or something? I'm quite interested in this point.

I think this is linked to attrition on the high seas IIRC. Warships can sail in all kind of waters with similar risks, while galleys have much higher risk in open sea (not adjacent to a coastline) and, most important, outside the Mediterranean / Black Sea :indien:

So, this should be changed to "galleys"? I might try to read up on this subject later, but it seems that the dromons would have had the same issues staying afloat in the Atlantic as any ancient galley...

I've changed it in my files, but maybe it should be "written up" as a "bug" for the hypothetical future patch (yeah, I understand it could be a year or more before we see it...)?
