Wow, this looks very nice. I have several bugbears with the standard scenario and wondered if you've changed them.

1) Frontenac was destroyed by the French in real life, and there was no settlement at all there. I don't understand why it's a level 1 city in cleared terrain.
2) Pittsfield is obviously an anachronism in 1755. Pitt isn't even in the government yet, let alone a hero to the colonists. In 1755 it was called Pontoosuck, or Pontoosuck Plantation. OK that one is trivial, but it annoys me all the same.
3) Norwich New Hampshire or Vermont did not exist in 1755. The town was chartered in 1761, and nothing in the area was settled until after the war was over. The upper Connecticut valley was the frontier in 1775, but twenty years earlier it was well past the frontier. There were a couple of tiny trading posts in the area, but Brattleboro was the northernmost settlement.
This matters in the game because it's a strategic town, so it's a plausible target for the French. Worse it's a plausible (though far from ideal) base for a British invasion of New France. To me the second strategic town in New England should be Brattleboro or Concord (which was actually called Rumford in 1755).

At any event, I this sort of mod was just what was needed.

I'll try to incorporate this in. Any other ideas please send them along.

Image

I am going to send Langlade north to Lake Champlain to command the Indians there. His Courriers regains a company.

Image

Dieskau will move on to Fort St. Frederic.

Image

de Beaujeu will take his command and go after Braddock by trying to beat him to Fort Cumberland. His forces are in great supply, and have one to two battles worth of ammo remaining. Historically the French could not pursue the British after Braddock's defeat due to the Indians dispersal with their trophies after the fight. I am not limited in this regard.

In Acadia Boishebert has gained the loyalty of the Passamaquoddy Indians and is now moving north to the Maliseet. The Passamaquoddy's will try to infiltrate past the British siege and interrupt their lines of communication with Halifax.

Monckton's siege should be winding down as supply in Grandpre is at 0. His artillery inflicted 5 points of damage to the French this turn. Nova Scotian Militia has arrived to escort a supply train back to Fort Lawrence. There are reports of Indian infiltration in the area.

Johnson brushes aside the French Indian allies at the southern end of Lake George

He will establish a forward defense here while awaiting Gov. Delancey and the New York Regiments arrival at Tajacook.

Shirley has reached Fort Bull but has encountered difficulties and will be delayed again reaching Oswego. (His low Strategic rating strikes again.)

Historically Shirley came up with the four-prong attack strategy of going after Acadia, Duquesne, Niagara, and down (South to North) Lake Champlain to Montreal. Poor logistical planning, the late muster of the Provincials, the personal animosity between Shirley and Johnson/Delancey over patronage in governmental contracts (Shirley gave them to his supporters), and inter-Colonial governmental infighting led to the northern two prongs getting off so late in the season that they could not do more than make minor headway towards their goals. Shirley arrived at Oswego and realized it was in no condition to serve as a base to attack Niagara. He decided to fortify it and continue the attack next year. Johnson built Fort Edward as his forward supply base and after driving of a French attack around the south end of Lake George (and capturing a wounded Baron Dieskau; thereby creating a need for a new commander of French troops to be sent to New France, Montcalm) he began to build the fortifications that became Fort William Henry.

Image

Braddock takes seven hits in retreating from the French & Indian attack. As Fort Cumberland is now under siege he will retire towards Fort Allen.

Image

Finally 2 more replacement companies of Regulars have arrived from England.

Rigauld finally arrives at Fort St. Frederic. After dropping off his two supply trains he will continue to Crown Point to stop the reported English advance and meet with the Indians retreating from Saint Sacrament.

De Lotbiniere will build a depot at Fort St. Frederic.

Dieskau and Vaudreuil will arrive at Ft. St. Frederic in 28 and 36 days repectively.

Image

The Garrison at Fort Beausejour is out of supply and should surrender this or next turn.

Boishebert secures the alliance of the Maliseet Indians, who will move east towards Halifax. Boishebert will move his force to a blocking position north of St. Jean.

Image

Beaujeu will try for an ambush while keeping pressure on Fort Cumberland.

Braddock just cannot get away from these pesky Indians and French, taking 7 hits while retreating after they caught up with him on his way to Ft. Allen. He will take his command into Ft. Cumberland. Supply is poor but he really has no other choice as his inactivation this turn slows him down, leaving him vulnerable out in the wilderness. Better to face down the Indians here or wait them out.

Image

In Acadia the siege of Fort Beausejour continues. I am thinking about an assault, but I might as well wait it out until I get a breach as supply is good; 56% with supply train and two more turns after it is sent for replenishment. I am sending the North American Squadron to Halifax for resupply. The Canadian supply train will arrive in Halifax in 5 days.

Image

In New York, Shirley will arrive in 5 days at Oswego and begin to build a depot next turn. Gov. Delancey will arrive at Tajacook in 6 days and await Johnson's army returning from Lake George and in need of supply.

De Beaujeu's command reached Great Meadows and caught up with the British causing more losses. Overall supply appears good, but some of the tribes are down to ammo and supply levels of 2. Being caught in a fight with units low or with no ammo is not a good thing to experience and splitting the force, especially with an inferiority in overall numbers, is out of the question (Discovered with Langlade earlier.) So while the victory is not yet complete, Beaujeu will retire his force to Ft. Duquesne. After the mauling delivered to them, we should have nothing to fear from the British in this theater for the rest of this year.

Image

The Champlain Theater has been one of frustration for me. Inactive leaders have ruined any plans for a quick assault upon Albany. The depot is almost complete at Ft. St. Frederic. Notice that it isn't a fort, just a level one city. This is to represent that Fort St. Frederic was in such disrepair at the beginning of hostilities that it could not withstand any bombardment. Consequently that was why the French were so keen on fortifying Crown Point quickly. Dieskau will take command at St. Frederic this turn and see if there is anything he can do before the winter comes. Gov. Vaudreuil will return to Montreal and the Indians return to Ft. St Frederic for supply.

Image

I am continuing to try and slip Indian infiltrators past Monckton into Nova Scotia to harass the British. The garrison at Fort Beausejour is out of supply and the fort should fall very soon.

As I have made wholesale changes it would require a lot of files to be transferred. I can post the .xls Files I have used if the team at AGEOD is ok with it.

Fort Beausejour has capitulated and the security of Nova Scotia is assured. Monckton, the 47th R. Foote, and the 1st Royal Artillery will comprise the main garrison. Governor Lawrence with the 40th and 45th R.'s Foote will remain in offensive posture outside to intercept and repel any French or Indian forces trying to infiltrate into Nova Scotia. All swamp regions are muddy this turn, slowing the replenished supply train coming from Halifax. General Winslow will take the New England Regiment back to Halifax, escorting another depleted supply train in the process.

Image

Johnson still has one more day to reach Fort Edward, but lack of supply has begun to affect his command. This demonstrates that operations away from a base of supply without proper logistical means should not be undertaken. Johnson will arrive in Tajacook this turn as Governor Delancey begins to build a supply depot at the newly christened Fort Edward. The Rhode Island Provincials will move to Oswego, where Gov. Shirley is also constructing a depot to facilitate the movement against Niagara next spring.

Image

Braddock accepts the reprieve given him by the French and Indians and hightails it back to Alexandria, leaving behind Colonel Washington in command of all Provincials to increase the garrison at Fort Cumberland.

Dieskau reorganizes the French Forces at Ft. St Frederic. He will command a mixed force of Courriers and Indians with Guillaume Plantavit de Lapause as a quick strike force. The Courriers are low on supply forcing Dieskau to remain at Fort St Frederic. It is only 15 days to Fort Edward with the irregulars. Rigauld will await the Guyenne and La Reine battalions and a supply train from Montreal, while commanding a mixed force of Regulars, artillery, Troupes de Marine, and Canadian Militia at Fort St Frederic. Gouvernour Vaudreuil will return to Montreal and await the arrival of the battalions from the Bourgogne and Artois Regiments due there in one month.

Image

De Langlade begins his attempt to infiltrate past the British at Oswego and move on to meet Dieskau.

Image

Beaujeu keeps the under-supplied Indians and Courriers at Duquesne while sending Capitaine Dumas with the supplied Indians and Courriers on a raid to York, Pennsylvania.

In Acadia Fort Beausejour has fallen and my Indians have been repulsed in their infiltration attempts, the Passamaquody rather bloodied (down to a strength of 2.) The Maliseet will move to join Boishebert while the Passa's flee home to their village.

Washington has begun to train the Virginia Regiment, while Braddock continues his movement to Alexandria.

Johnson arrives and merges with Delancey. He has lost 1/3 of his force to attrition due to lack of supply. They will remain at Fort Edward and replenish for the remainder of the season.

Image

Shirley has 9 days remaining on his depot construction. The Rhode Islanders are 20 days out. If you look at Albany you will see a new leader portrait.

Bradstreet and his corps of Armed Battoemen have the stats of Militia. They were useful in transporting supply trains through the wilderness, which was what they did throughout the war. Their number reached a peak of 2000 during the war.

Not Much to show and tell this turn. Dieskau is inactive so he will remain at Fort St. Frederic awaiting Langlade who made it past Oswego with no problems. Dumas continues on to York with the Saux Indians being sent to join with him there. Acadia remains static. The two battalions of the Bourgogne and Artois Regiments will arrive in Montreal in 11 days.
