---> BOA Legacy Patch 1.13 <---

Wed Dec 19, 2007 4:59 pm

Dear players,

The Last of the Mohicans is out on rampage! :indien:

http://ageoddl.telechargement.fr/latest/BOA_Patch.zip

It is with mixed feeling that we present it to you. :p leure: 22 months after proposing BOA, the book is closed. But this is for the better. See the readme! :p

[updated to 1.13d on January 9th]

==============================================================================
Birth of America Update 1.13 Readme
Tuesday, December 18, 2007
==============================================================================

This update is a legacy patch, fleshing BOA with all the bug fixes and AI improvements found in Ageod American Civil War, done in the last 6 months.

This is the last BOA patch. The team is now moving to BOA2, due for spring 2008. Twice as large map, more scenarios and a ton of features are planned.
Thanks to all the BOA players for their support toward AGEOD. Without them, our first game would have remained unknown to the wargaming community.

The AGEOD/AGE-Studio Team.

AACW is the best strategy game around (and I've seen many) i can't help but thinking BOA2 will be a must for all strategy fans and not only the ones from the series. A true masterpiece just like AACW is and even better...likely, thanks to the accumulated experience. :cwboy:

Upward and onward, Pocus!

Argh! Now I have to play the FIW again, after I thought I'd 'beaten' the AI. And then again with BoA Gold! Disastrous ;)

Well just played a short scenario with the new patch and have a couple of questions. 1st ,did the option to use the default cursor get removed, i thought this used to be listed as one of the game options. 2nd, playing the South Carolina scenario I did not achieve the requisite objectives, yet the victory screen inducated that I had, in declaring my victory (also, the text on the victory screen did not fit in the victory box). Could there be any bugs in regard these matters which might have been introdcued with the new patch as I don't recall seeing this before?

The cursor can be changed by AGESettings, external to the game.

You can win a minor victory by having more VP than you opponent. For the text misplaced, I'll check. Thanks for the report.

Also the icon changed to Napoleon's one has been reported, this will be fixed the 26 or 27th of December.

Thanks for the response Pocus. In the past I thought the victory message was explicit in such circumstances that I had not met the objectives but won on points. Here, the message indicated that I had met the strategic objectives when I manifestly had not, but I'll run the scenario again to double-check.

Regards

Yep, I re-ran the 1776 Carolinas scenario and the victory message said that I had captured all required objectives and strategic towns, when the strategic atlas vitory page correctly notes that I had only captured 2 of the 3 required objective cities and had not achieved my objectives. In the past when such a circumstance arose, the victory screen would note that neither side had obtained victory objectives but taht I had won on points. This is a minor quibble but I'm a bit puzzled how/why this change crept in with the patch. As others noted, I've found that the strategic atlas can't be flipped through anymore either (unless using the F# shortcut keys as noted above).

Patch updated (same link), now with version 1.13a though.

http://ageoddl.telechargement.fr/latest/BOA_Patch.zip

BOA icon instead of the NCP one.
No crash when you open the detail on Indians.
Some images called where being reported as missing in the logs.
Font changed for the Victory screen.

No changes to the text of the Carolina victory screen, if you win by VP. This is a scenario designer issue, so it has always been there I think. Purely cosmetic anyway.

New sub-version, 1.13d, it clears the no naval battle bug, add fast software cursors too:

http://ageoddl.telechargement.fr/latest/BOA_Patch.zip

- The Software cursor is now as fast as the hardware (default) one. You can activate this cursor by launching AGESettings and tweaking the option or by manually editing the file boa\settings\display.opt.

Yes but you'll have to play in English or perhaps expect some missing texts (not much though)
