Just bought it to complete my AGEOD collection.

And what a nice coloured manual. I see you ran a UK hotline at £1.50 a minute - did you get many takers at that rate?

Anyway, it's version 1.09b - should I run it as it is or upgrade - there seems to be some forum disgreement over 1.12 or 1.13?

I would stick with 1.12.

1.13 has some critical bugs, plus the journal is kinda messed up.

Can you mod the difficulty setting by a simple change of one value in a settings file, like I can in Hearts of Iron?

The attached screenshot shows the difficulty settings on my computer. You can also alter AI agression. I believe once a setting is changed, they take effect in current games in progress, as well as any new games that are started.

You can also change values in the General.opt file. (use notepad)

This file is located in your games' BoA/settings folder.

Thanks Stwa.

Under difficulty settings in General.opt do you know if you can have non integer values - e.g. 1.5 or negatives? The similar thing in Hearts of Iron was a combat modifier set at 20%. So going from normal to easy gave +20% bonus easy to very easy +40%; going from normal to hard was -20%.

Can you have AI with fog of War, player not? I guess I could play around with these myself, but there is a high chance of mucking up.

I am not sure if you can use non integer values. I have never tried that myself.

You can enable/disable FOW for the AI, by using the AI Detect Bonus settings in the AI options dialog box. See screenshot above.

You can enable/disable FOW for the HP (Human Player), by using the FOW settings in the Game options dialog box.

Back playing this again.

I notice in post #4 the settings edit in notepad - shows King's English as an option to English?

For any UK players of AGEOD - retail store Game had 3 pack AGEOD Military Strategies (WiA, AACW, WW1) on a 3 for £10 offer. I bought the local stock just to try giving the games to people who had not tried wargames before.
