I suppose you could argue that these new abilities have become apparrant as part of their raise in rank. Personally I am thinking of spreading the abilities wider but thinner to see what results. ie giving an ability per star (possibly adding artierist and cavalryman as an extra to those who qualify...

I think the game considers that this role means that he isnt available as an active commander. (which he never is because he is locked) His removal from the roster gives the other 3 stars a step up but I dont think they can go higher so I'm not sure why they do this except as a counterpart to Genl. ...

I would prefer the greater flexibility of seperate arms as well as the more historical feel of individual units, this is even more so with cavalry.
