Re: Known bugs list

The Mediterranean Blockade issue certainly isn't a game breaker, but for the anal retentives among us it can trigger a bit of a tanti. In my own case I take great care in shifting units and targeting recruitments in the five or so turns leading up to the OE DoW so that I can pull maximum advantage f...

Sorry, but it's "no" from me. I could take a shot at manufacturing the situation again if that would help.

Re: Known bugs list

I think it's entirely reasonable to demand fixes for a game that can't function satisfactorily without them, and the fact that they haven't come in the several years since it's release only makes that demand more reasonable. I'm not looking to beat up on AGEOD here - I'm actually an AGEOD fan. I bec...

Re: Known bugs list

All true enough, but cold comfort at the consumer end. So, given the difficulties in finding new permanent staff, would it not be possible to hire on temps to work up specific fixes for specific games? Here in EAW land, for example, Bohemond is being pressured (even if ever so politely) to provide f...

Re: Conquering Africa as the CP

I'm with you Barg. It's not the sort of thing you'd dare try against another player, but it adds a challenge that in a small way compensates for your game advantages over the machine. When playing without Schlieffen I've found it possible to ship four divisions into the theatre before UK entry witho...

Re: Star missing - Objective or not?

Just dropping in to link to your earlier "Known bugs list" post. The 1.04 Beta does eliminate a bunch of the bugs present in the 1.03.1 version. Although it warns of possible instability problems I've not encountered those to any great degree.

Re: Known bugs list

Unfortunately we've not heard back from Altaris so I think we have to figure that that that door's closed for the immediate future at least. Clearly you still care about the game, though, Templar, or you wouldn't be here - so I think we agree that despite its troubles there's enormous unrealised pot...

Re: Known bugs list

I've seen a variation on that. OE at 100% at end of turn, come next turn no DoW and alignment reduced to 99%. Would seem to confirm your analysis, pants.

Re: Playing with the big boys

Phew - that was a journey. I'd removed the Run Game icon when I raised its Quick Start brother, but was able to backtrack and locate it. Just as you said, there's all the stuff you pointed to. I don't think I have a future in the modding business, but one's reach should exceed one's grasp - or so I'...

Re: Playing with the big boys

I'm afraid I'm going to make a nuisance of myself, Nik, so please shut me down if this gets tiresome. When I visit my EAW downloaded location I can't find any sign of "\EAW\GameData\Models". I see only three folders - Logs, Saves, and Scripts - and none of these offer any reference to Game...

Playing with the big boys

While I'm waiting for my new installation to prove out - or otherwise - I'd like to try me hand at a little gentle modding. Some of the generals' traits don't match my reading of their histories so I figure that would be a place to start. Can someone please point me to a list of the codes for the va...

Re: We all Live in a Yellow Submarine

No - Pocus has passed on our request but nothing beyond that. Reading between the lines a little I figure Altaris might have more to concern himself with than begging letters from fans.

It won't hurt us (well it will but not fatally) to sit tight for a while and give the lad some space.

Re: We all Live in a Yellow Submarine

In that vein, the Ultimate Enhancement Mod looks sensational, and I gather it's playable as a two-player setup.
Keep at it Nik - it's members like you who keep this game alive.

Re: We all Live in a Yellow Submarine

Okay, can't hurt to ask. From what Pocus has said, however, Alta isn't exactly in top working order. So if he is able to push anything our way I think any fixes might have to be "outsourced".

Re: We all Live in a Yellow Submarine

Given that the game is now clearly in their "What, that old thing?" basket, might we not prevail upon whomever is now responsible to liberate the database. I'm happy to carry that forward if someone can shoot me a contact point.

Re: We all Live in a Yellow Submarine

They don't even rate a mention in the manual. Logic would dictate that they have some role to play otherwise why include them as a distinct class, and apart from sopping up damage hits the only thing that seems reasonable is anti-sub. Tried running a few tests with various light cruiser+destroyer v....

Unknown bugs list

I've just re-installed and updated (1.04) and play seems far less random than before. I am, however, noticing a graphics bug or two. The lesser is that on occasion a moving enemy unit will show up as just a blank colour panel - right size, right shape, right colour - but just the colour (e.g. a soli...

Re: Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition (factories)

You're right Nik, I've got a screwy installation. I just started a new game as a test and I was able to build a factory on the first August turn of 1914. That explains a lot and actually makes me feel a whole let better about some other strange things that have been happening. Two things I have to d...

Well that would certainly explain some of the issues I've been turning up - and it would mean that I owe the publishers an apology. I'll purge my installation, reinstall and post the result.

Re: Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition (factories)

The only reading I could do was the manual and there's no mention of a threshold date there. I discovered the Jan. 1915 date by testing.

Re: Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition (factories)

Just like Martians the threshold does exist - 1915 rolls around and up they go. Unlike Martians, nobody bothered to tell us about it. Just plain shoddy.
