I wouldn't say fort the WoI campaign, as it goes on mostly populated areas, but for the F&I war, they are indeed a must have. Especially if playing as the British, as they must be on the offensive, and need to cross great deserted areas of wilderness in order to reach their objectives. Erecting fort...

I'm going to have to disagree with that. Such "good point" has also been a way for the gaming industry to blame its more than often poor coding optimization on the players not spending half their monthly income to upgrade to a new machine every year to keep up with the not so useful graphic goodies ...

Grey, that's a nice piece of laptop you've got here! As for the operating system, Vista is no longer the hog it used to be. Seriously. Most of its faults have been fixed with SP1. Don't ask for a downgraded system when you buy it. Either wait a few months and you'll be able to buy your computer with...

Rafiki, I envy you :neener: I use a laptop, but that's only because I need moveability for work. For gaming, I'd definitely go for a desktop if I could afford an extra computer. While I agree some games can run well enough on a laptop, especially low graphic intensive games such as wargames, it can'...

As far as I know, French regiments didn't have nicknames. They were named either after the region they were raised in ("Berry", "Languedoc", "Guyenne"...) or after their owner ("La Reine"). "Royal Roussillon" would then mean that regiment was that of the Roussillon region, and was property of the ki...

I really don't feel the need or the desire to try to search for an explanation for the unlawful practices of these pirates. I will take a guess though and assume that the lure of much more money from piracy than from honest fishing might be at least one cause. Sometimes the world is simply black an...

I had a peak at the scenario while translating it in French (although at times you do it rather mechanically without actually reading what you're looking at). You seem to have done a pretty good job at putting together events to reflect the complexity of the conflict. I'm definitely looking forward ...

Aside of the "crushing defeat" of the Indians at Bushy Run, which was really only a draw, but enough to shatter the Indian will to continue fighting, it was an enjoyable watch.

1) AACW. The bigger, the deeper. Seriously though, it has so many units, so vast a map, and so many potentialy different strategies that give it a depth worthy of countless hours of "just-one-more-turn" and/or "what-about-I-do this-instead-of-that?". 2) WIA. As often with computers, you'll find as many different opinions as there are advices. Some say your virtual memory has to be left as it is (you let the system decide). This AAR pretty much tells the same story as yours, Arsan. The guy is playing the British, and has control over most all of western Europe after only 15-20 turns. He conquered France in the few first turns, then rolled over Spain and its colonies... Indeed, either the AI or the balance, or both, li...

1759 scenario, Wolfe nowhere to be found...

Playing the "1759, Annus Mirabilis" scenario, as the French (1.04c + Community Mod). Expecting Wolfe and his dreaded army to come for the onslaught to Québec, I had Montcalm and 3/4 of the French army dig in on the Beauport shores from the first month of the scenario. The British would not put one s...
