Re: Time to Increase My Difficulty Level?

I'm about to quit my campaign as the Eastern Entente in the Guns of August Scenario. It's November 1916. The Central Powers NM is at 49, the Western Entente at 62, and my EE at 108. I played on Lieutenant difficulty with small AI bonuses for detection and activation. Plus, I used historical attritio...

Re: New to AGEOD titles, sales on Steam, which should I get?

As an intro to Ageod? As others have already stated, Ala Jacta Est and/or Wars in America are probably the best introductory games. They both feature lots of scenarios with relatively low unit density. Plus, there are some terrific "step-by-step" introductory AARs for those two games on th...

Re: Replacement Issue/Bug?

As stated, I am familiar with Ageod's replacement chit system. I have AJE, RUS, TYW, and WoN which all feature similar chit replacement systems to CWII's. In those other games, purchasing chit replacements can be a major drain on your resources. Yet, in CWII, I played one scenario for nearly 12 mont...

Re: Replacement Issue/Bug?

Here is it November and this issue STILL exists. I just bought this game two days ago and noticed the problem almost immediately: you don't have to purchase replacement chits because the game is doling them out free of charge. (I'm surprised how few people have noticed this problem.) I own a number ...

I tried Run as Admin, but that didn't work. Game still crashed when I clicked on the unit emblem in the Recruitment menu. I thought that was a longshot solution anyway. This is an engine problem that I've run into with more than one Ageod game. It's been fixed in other games, but it appears that I'm...

Repeatable CTD in the recruitment menu with 1.01.

I was playing as the Imperials in the Grand Campaign with the latest patch 1.01. In the recruitment menu, the game will crash when I click-on a unit's emblem to review its details. A "Critical Error" screen will pop-up and then game will CTD. It's a repeatable bug. This bug (the game CTDing when one...

I am looking forward to its release. Ageod's engine is getting a little creaky and they get a lot of grief over Athena's overall ability, but the mere fact that they make fun strategy/operational games about periods of history that few dare to touch really does make them stand-out. The French and In...

Good if you feel it to be easy :-). But be aware that your opponents may have the same feeling. Anyway, with Eastern Whites, you will soon have a lack of units to build and need to activate some later options to get more. The ressources available in the game are balanced so that you can build and m...

Eastern Whites and British Aid

I am a currently playing the Grand Campaign as the Eastern Whites. Despite my knowledge of the Russian Civil War being limited (with Dr. Zhivago being a big source), it's a lot of fun. RUS Gold is definitely one of Ageod's gems. However, British aid consists of tons of single element arty units that...

I'd prefer DLC that featured smaller scenarios. Sadly, Ageod's AI really struggles with WON's campaign scenarios. This has been true for almost all Ageod games: the bigger and longer the scenario the more the AI's failings are exposed and that has been even more pronounced with WON. Athena is much b...

Does anyone have any advice or tips on what's the best unit make-up for a group?

Do you keep it all one unit type? Or do you create a combined arms force: infantry, cavalry, and artillery? What is the most effective?

Yeah, I'm seeing the AI sending it forces to very odd places. I'm playing Spain and there is a tiny Russian "army" sitting on top of Gibraltar. Disappoiniting George Rogers Clark portrait.

I'm currently reading James Alexander Thom's novel about the Clark family of Virginia "From Sea to Shining Sea." The Clarks had 10 children and two of which became extremely famous: George Rogers Clark, the Revolutionary War hero, and William Clark of "Lewis and Clark" fame. So, I'm playing one of t...

Raid Decision?

I don't understand how the raid decision is supposed to work. It says you can target disloyal towns if you have a raider unit in that location. So, I'm playing the Bohemian Revolt scenario as the Emperor. I buy a Croat light cavalry unit. It pops-up in Vienna the next turn. I check the decision opti...

I'm not as negative as some of the others. I've playing some of the shorter scenarios as the Emperor against the AI. (To assist the AI, I usually avoid playing "monster" scenarios. One Supply Wagon Unit to Build a Depot? WAD?

I noticed that I've been able to build depots with just one supply wagon unit. That is different from every other Ageod game I own and from what the TYW's manual states which is that TWO (2) supply wagon units are needed to build depot. Is this a bug? Or did TYW change the requirements needed to bui...

Maybe I'm too late, but thought I'd chime in with my two cents. I'd skip buying the original NCP. Firstly, it is dated. It's nearly eight years old. Thus, it's missing a LOT of stuff that Ageod has incorporated into more recent additions of this engine. Two big examples: you can't recruit new units ...
