Put a bunch of gunboats in Hampton Roads and be happy.

You'll be unhappy against a human, if you try blocking up close with gunnies. Brigs are quick to build and relatively cheap, even for the CSA, if he wants to spare the shekels. Once the Brig hits the water, it's bye-bye gunboats.

Some players like to create a huge Union fleet. I'm not one of them. I divide up the Blockade Squadrons that you are given between the two blockade boxes. If a squadron needs a few extra ships to reach max strength, then I'll leave it in a port to fill out with replacement chits first. That's all t...

From an old AACW thread, I just don't understand Supply (a few caveats here, but the essentials still hold, I think): ********** First, read the Supply Primer so handily stickied [N. B.: AACW]. Now, in a nutshell (I know the Union; the Southern mileage may vary): Let's take a certain unit you get in...

If people just admitted that slavery was the overriding motivation for the Civil War, then we can move on. They werent fighting over tariffs in Bleeding Kansas or John Browns Raid. Then theres Howard Zinn who believes that the Civil War was a plot by capitalists to prevent a "peoples revolution". T...

If this is possible, how likely is it because of an exploit? If it happens because of an exploit, how sorry should we be that it doesn't jive with the event? That said, you might be right, maybe the condition should include if McDowell has X units in the Richmond region/ Personally, I think that th...

Not gamey at all. It's understanding the rules and mechanics (experience helps) and using them to best effect. Myself, I kinda used these, but your small essay here is highly instructive.

So, thanks!

Also, the exit-point of Fort Clark IIRC is wrong.

Yes, change that. In an 1862 start, there are three USN frigates parked there, which can't go anywhere.

P. 96 from the Civil War 2 manual: As long as an element is not totally destroyed, it may recover hits by filling its ranks with replacements drawn from the replacement pool during the Hosting phase, if the element didn’t move during a turn. This is in addition to recovering Cohesion. If you choose ...

Then that obviates Historical Attrition. My only real comparison is AACW/CW2, and you can get Replacements only at a Depot with H. A. ON in those games.

What's the manual say, or can the Devs give us a ruling on this?

In the end, what the program does is what the program does...

I don't think you've been playing this game for a very long time. We had a tournament here in AACW and CSA players more than held their own. Back in 1.03, havi was a newcomer against me, but he learned really, really fast and lost very narrowly in Jan 1866. If you think the Union 'will win quickly a...

Hey, it's your mod. you can do what you want. However... There's little to no room for error. No, I've seen it more than a few times. The CSA player can leave something open or made a bad physical move, and he can recover without much difficulty. You really don't seem to understand that the average ...
