Re: Movement bug visualisation

Yep, me too. Thanks again - sums things up nicely. Trouble is you don't know that it's going to happen until it's happened and you then have to wind back the turn, try to identify where the cross-over has occurred, then unpick the movements involved in the hope that they don't create new cross-overs...

Re: Advice on Moltke Plan (CP)

Hi Bargus With apologies I'll begin with a brief rationale before tackling your specific questions When using the Moltke plan I've found that the two most important things I can do at jump off are to get my forces mix right and to set myself very clear objectives as to where I want to go and why - a...

Pleased to have been able to help. As I've demonstrated in the past I'm very critical of the rulebook, but in this case the information we needed was all there and it was just a matter of teasing it out.

Re: Rebel alignment

I've tried to cull and assemble what seem to me the most important points regarding NM and Revolution and have come up with the following. Automatic Victory (or defeat) is achieved when one side reaches its minimum or maximum “National Morale” (NM) level (only Western Entente and Central Powers can ...

Re: Rebel alignment

Just following on from the last point, there's a line in the situation reports that notes that "our citizens are pleased" or something to that effect. I'm thinking that this is a marker for a critical location loyalty bonus.

Re: Rebel alignment

Rebels function much as do enemy forces with regard to loyalty. 51% or higher loyalty the player should not have any adverse consequence. Once loyalty drops below 50% the region is not as productive, moment and supply are impacted if the loyalty drops too far. Aha! Makes sense - good to know Durko....

Re: Rebel alignment

To piggy-back off this, I have 2 questions: 1) aside from forcing a surrender/armistice, does rebel alignment have any other effects? Like, hampering revenue, troop quality, etc.? And 2) is it true that computer controlled UK will never surrender due to high rebel alignment? Again, I can't say for ...

I've generally been able to hang onto the African colonies by providing them with a transport fleet to shuttle units to where they're most required. Typically I bring von Lettow and a brigade or two round to SudWest from where he can reinforce the other West African colonies in a single day with ver...

Re: Can Bulgaria and Romania form Armies?

... this is one of the bonuses features of playing AGEOD games. The manuals get you into the games, but the details can be more complex than any manual can handle. As far as AGEOD games are concerned I reckon that's through a glass lightly - but as far as this board is concerned I reckon your posit...

Wow! Important pick up pants. Since it seems sensible that the first side to weaponise gas would also be the first side to prepare against it I'd simply assumed that it was a case of first in best dressed.

Re: Storming the Ramparts

It'd be interesting to know what the algorithm for combat power is - especially whether it's simply cumulative or includes a modifier for elements involved. But whatever it is I'm figuring 144 has to be better than 68. Equally, it would definitely be useful to know what benefits the heavier hitters ...

Re: Storming the Ramparts

It's not called Siege Artillery - Super Heavy Artillery instead - but fortress-busting was its historical purpose. For Germany one battery delivers 68 combat strength for 400 gold and 1000 materials with a build period of 120 days. Contrast that with German Medium Artillery which puts out 24 combat ...

Re: Storming the Ramparts

Unfortunately the same trait doesn't stack, ie. one only gets the siege benefit once from pioneers and engineers. That's certainly how the passage in question reads, but I'm wondering if the "and" might not be additive rather than inclusive. Otherwise, since the presence of one pre-empts ...

Re: New player, need naval and diplomacy help

Hi Bargus, and welcome to the boards. I don't keep the big fleet in port - I send it to the Baltic to clean out the Russians there. They like to raid into your Baltic shipping box and you can take a decent bite or two out of them by stationing your fleet to intercept them. Further, by mounting amphi...

Re: Can Bulgaria and Romania form Armies?

That's what it means alright, evan, and given the number of units fielded by the minors, corps are an unlikely option. As to ignorance - join the club. Straight Arrow's made a masterful job of dispelling most of it so I'd recommend browsing his threads as you begin to get serious about things.

Don't take me as gospel on this - it's been a while since I played - but as far as I can recall: 1. Just the one - as soon as you get a mix you get a hit (unless you have the right multi-talented commander). 2. Yep, they're different. There are enough Hungarian "sensitive" commanders to go...

Re: Drawing the Face Cards

Consistent with what Durk and Nik have said, I have no real insight into the selection procedure; but I do suspect that there's a timeline issue involved somewhere. For example, Hutier shows up in the German availability list very early in the game but over many playings I've never seen him actually...

Remarkable when you consider that they had the same draft as the early light cruisers and a considerably greater beam - but fair enough when you consider what game management would look like without such simplifications. Useful info - thanks Arrow and thanks Durk.

Re: Victory in the East

Central Powers can conquer Russia by… Destroying Russia's northern start-up armies. The job doesn't stop there of course, but as long as they are intact and active you'll spend most of your time in the East reacting to them rather than pushing on to St Petersburg. It helps if you can also clean out...

In my experience, "no" to the first and therefore "no" to the second also. Beyond that, I'm far from convinced that River Gunboats/Monitors can block river crossings either.
