I saw that ctlContested parameter, but that's not really what I was looking for. I don't want to allow some little small unit to get 25% MC immediately upon entering a region (say, for example, a raiding cav unit behind enemy lines), that seems very open to abuse. It's not that big a deal, I'll just...

The suggestion that was made was to create a separate stack with 1 cavalry unit in it, and set that 1 unit to offensive stance. Since cav have a high patrol value, they will normally spot sneakers and engage them. Then the remainder of the "big" stack can stay on defensive in case of an attack. I di...

I understand your policy on mods, was just trying to figure out the exact mechanics. I'd have to go back and look at the turn files, but what your saying sounds pretty consistent with what I'm seeing. With 1-week turns, the Suffolk unit didn't appear until Turn 3, then arrived on Turn 4 (very late i...

97, most of it from artillery. It's only May 1861, so I don't have anything troop wise except the militia unit from Suffolk and the garrison militia. I think they were on defensive last turn, I set to offensive to see if it would make a difference. I'm all for slower MC gain, but in a region where t...

MC in 1.16 RC10a

So how does MC work in 1.16 RC10a once taking over an enemy region? It seems extremely slow to me. I took Norfolk on standard turn, have full control of the region and the city, but I'm only getting a little bit of MC each turn. This is in a modded game using 1-week turns, but it still seems excessi...

With our game in progress, we're going with the mobilization settings that we had set up (which will mean fewer troops before 3/62 for both sides, and a slight penalty for the USA until 3/63). I'm no expert on Civil War numbers, from the research I've done, though, I think part of the problem is how...

Well, neither side can use mobilization at all until 3/62, so it's a two-way street. In 3/62, they both get Partial Mob, and CSA gets Full Mob. There's not THAT huge a difference between Part Mob and Full Mob for the Union, and they can make up most of the difference if they opt to use the Pay for E...

It leads to the potential of more battles/losses. But cohesion regain is on a daily basis, so cohesion losses will stay take as much "real time" as before to recover, so I think players would have to be a bit more careful about putting units in action turn in and turn out. Personally, I think the en...

I kinda like the idea of no amphib landing on fort regions, but it should be restricted to the starting forts, IMO - leaving it open to player-made ones would be very exploitable. The pre-existing ones in game are all on regions dedicated to the fort itself, whereas other regions are much larger are...

Thx, Lodilefty, I was aware of all these and did change accordingly. I spent a lot of time last year modding PON (converted that one a 1-month system), so I was pretty familiar with how the AGEOD files work. I just doubled any numbers in the TurnIndex values, and doubled any Fixed values that were u...

Longshanks, good point about rivers, I wondered about that effect too. There's a settings in GameLogic for bmbMinEntrenchLevel = 3 , looks like this could set lower to allow for interdiction. What's you veterans opinions on this? I'm leaning towards changing it down to 1 with this mod, as otherwise ...

Had a PM asking for the mod, attached files can be used. I *strongly* recommend making a copy of your installation directory before installing, as this mod *will* cause the regular game events not to work properly. Just unzip the contents to the same folder where your AACW.exe file resides, and choo...

Experimental Mod Game in progress

After some discussion, me and one of the fellow members here (Durk) have decided to try out a game with some mod settings we feel will increase historical accuracy. For the most part, we feel the game is pretty solid as is, but these were relatively simple changes we wanted to give a whirl. So, we'l...

All-Out Assault worked (though I also think Grant must've unfixed this turn, as he retreated). Any way going, I'm happy to have finally taken Paducah. Pretty successful little campaign overall, bagging Grant would've been the icing on the cake, but good nonetheless.

Will RED/RED make them continually attack though? It was my understanding that it would not, in which case, it doesn't really help me out to do it. I don't care if he sticks forces in the fort, I'll be happy enough to starve them out in a siege. Maybe it's just a misunderstanding on my part of how t...

Good idea, Citizen X, I'll try looking at the replay later today. He had a retreat path over the Mississippi to Cairo, IL, that had a Union fleet in it, so I don't think that's the issue. I think what's happening is this... Grant was injured (probably very seriously) about 4 turns ago in a majorly b...

No, Grant is out in the open. Just checked, last attack I made was 1250 CP vs 260, roughly 5:1. He routed, taking a crapload of additional hits, but he's still there in Paducah! This is now the 3rd round of pretty overwhelming odds, and I keep winning, but it's taking its toll on my forces, and the ...

Okay, I've got a weird situation. I've got Stonewall with a huge stack in Paducah (Union owned) facing off against Grant. I keep "winning" battles, but can't clear him out. I've tried putting on Orange (Red) settings, but even though I win, he's still there next turn. I don't want to put on Red assa...

Here is screenshot of the final score in Citizen X vs Seraphim game. Turn was Late July 1862. All scores (NM, VP, Casualties, Cities) were very close (very slight CSA advantage) before this past turn, so this doesn't really reflect how most of the game went. Longshanks, let me know if you want me to...

Yes, the Citizen X (CSA) vs Seraphim (USA) match has ended with Citizen X conceding defeat to Seraphim. It seems Citizen X accidentally posted orders where he had been plotting movements to determine time of arrivals. The end result was not pretty. Lee marched his whole army against a very fortified...

Status update for the Citizen X (CSA) vs Seraphim (USA) game. It is now Turn 27 (Early May 1862), and the USA is quickly bridging the VP gap, but they still have a VP/turn deficit of 8 points, and need about 75 net point gains to overcome the CSA lead.

AACW ranks #1 among all my computer war games. NOT a monster game with lots of micromanagement; This really is the best part - AACW hits just the right balance of complexity, you feel like you have the necessary level of control for a strategic level war game, without having to pay atten...

A lot of other AGEOD games are based on more obscure wars (such as Rise of Prussia and Revolution Under Siege), I think the setting for AACW just has a bigger fan base. Since this game has the larger fan base, it seems to have gotten more steady support/patching throughout the years. I'd say having ...

How do you keep Kentucky neutral?

Is there any way either side can guarantee KY stays neutral? I've tried looking at the events, but I don't completely grasp what they are doing. It looks like the amount of troops in the vicinity makes a difference, but how exactly does it work? And what effect do the purchased units for CSA/USA Ent...

Since a picture is worth a thousand words, here's the situation in the Citizen X (CSA) vs Seraphim (USA) game, as on Turn 19, Early Jan, 1862. (Screenshot is from the CSA perspective). As you can see, this is a very close game, Seraphim is doing well on all fronts, having penetrated into Northern Vi...

I'm talking about the retreat before battle (round 0). They are both 100. As I've said multiple times already, I'm not so much miffed that they retreated, but that they just gave up their positions without any sort of fight at all. Especially in VA, I could've counterattacked if they had done just a...

Okay, I'm wrong about it being the same as the green setting, I think I must've been looking at the green offensive stature instead (which is 100). So as far as retreating *before* battle goes, though, there's no difference between orange and blue?
