The Barcid campaigns in Iberia would be very interesting, but I imagine a lack of historical sources could be a problem for creating such a scenario. The Romans did too thorough a job at wiping out Carthage and her archives! Not really a problem, we know where/ when the Punics took control, we know...

I knew that the marian legion had the first cohort overstrenghted but I didn't know that also the manipular legion had it too. I noticed a mistake in the legion though. Since each manipular legion had 4.500 men (including equites), in the game there should be 1.200 velites, 1.200 hastati, 1.200 pri...

corvus was a transitional force multiplier, it removed superior sea skills by fixing each ship in place, once the socio learned the sea skills, the corvus was no longer used, as its main weaknes/strength was that a ship fixed in place was then determined by close combat and marines numbers. Once you...

I go with single stacks as well and I never build more. hanny1 suggested using an admiral but I think using one actually decreases the fleets hide value, plus the evasion trait only works while moving. Ranking Admiral is the one whose ability gets applied, so if you have 2, stack gets hurt use the ...

Either set your steam acount to auto update, which means waiting for it to be on steam, or copy paste the download manually from here, would seem to be the way to go.

Some questions

Armour for land units, what is the range of number values the engine will recognise?, does it acept fraction?. At present it has 2 values, ( plus a defaullt not armour, so i guess thats pisoli/peltast/phalanx) each increasing protection by 10%, personaly i would double that protection value, but if ...

On my *wish* list would be to link the PW1 to PW2 including all scns in between, the only one missing would be the Punic expansion into Spain, so as to have a rise and fall of Rome/Carthage and to be played as either, ending in the domination of one over the other.

Place your runners in one blockade box; this will force the Federal player to station ships in an empty box to maintain the blockade percentage. Is this statement true? Thats going to happen anyway to drop CS production values. So the cost benifit is really on if your caught as a one stack, or sepe...

I'm interested in why the rifle didn't revolutionise combat in the Civil War, as per Griffith etc.; here are some thoughts. Using a ballistic coefficient of 0.145 for the Burton ball and the calculator here I've calculated the ballistic arcs of the 0.58 Springfield rifle-musket. http://4.bp.blogspot...

While Houston did not answer the call of volunteers, there was a person who eventually fled to New Orleans in 1862 and raised a Texas cavalry regiment from there. It is a historic possibility that General Sam could have raised this regiment in 1861. If not the guy I forget his name who eventually r...

Milroy's men may have had some repeaters, but they appear to have been a variety of makes; I have not been able to find evidence that even half of his soldiers were armed thus. "The engineer turned Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Robert Bruce concluded: “If a large part of the Union Army had been given breech-loaders by the end of 1862, Gettysburg would certainly have ended the war. I've won the game as the CSA in October 1861. That's pretty much a fantasy version of the history, and yet the game simulates the CSA winning resoundingly before the first winter's snow. I proposed a scenario based on the Union equipping its soldiers with repeater rifles. This is not a fantasy, but...

Guys instead of this full blown argument as to if Lee would have or could have stayed with the Union, why not just say he did? It's an alternate history. In an alternate history it's entirely plausible that Lee's loyalties could have been with the Union instead of Virginia. You may as well not even...

I agree with the argument that where Virginia went Lee was going to follow. However, if Virginia hadn't seceded, I don't think that Lee necessarily would have taken part in the overall effort to bring the other states back into the Union. He might have resigned, or been content with a position with...
