Glad to hear it, I am looking forward to PBEM. I'm waiting for the first patch to come out, and practicing against the AI and myself in the meantime. How do the Central Powers fare in multiplayer? Naturally it should be very difficult to achieve a CP victory, but is it even possible against two comp...

I've adapted to the posture hotkeys pretty quickly, but if nothing else, I wish the fly-out menus for movement, command, etc., would stay open while cycling through your armies.

Thanks for the pics, Tac! The first one should do nicely, I think. Ganbatte: I've wondered the same thing, but it's probably more trouble than it's worth. I noticed Dankl and Auffenberg have their respective "von Krasnik" and "von Komarow" monikers, which were only bestowed during the war for their ...

Is there any consensus as to the best option for realism/playability? I typically use medium or long delay, but would a shorter delay better replicate the difficulty of achieving a breakthrough against a defensive line in this period?

I've gotten used to it, but it is a big step backward for ease of use.

I've changed the portrait field from Unit_CAN_HQ2/HQ3 to Unit_CAN_Alderson.png in both of Edwin's .mdl files, but he's still not showing up in the game. What am I missing?

Missing Leader Portraits

Let's get this show on the road, shall we? I'd like to add some leader portraits, but I can't figure out how to get them to appear in the game. I trust it's not too difficult? Also, is there a blank template for the portrait background (the largest ones)? Here's an appetizer; Sir Edwin A. H. Alderso...

It would be nice to have separate rail pools for e.g. Austria-Hungary and the Ottoman Empire, or if that's not feasible, maybe make their troops weigh more for rail transport purposes?

WW1 Gold runs on XP, so I'd be surprised if CE doesn't, but I'm not 100% sure.

I just got it on sale, it runs a heck of a lot faster on my laptop, but I haven't had the chance to play much yet.

It's a stable, well balanced release - no mean feat for a game of such epic scope. EAW is pushing the outer limits of what the engine can do, but not necessarily in a bad way. Seems some corners had to be cut - e.g. starting the German Army in Liege to keep pace with the Schlieffen plan on the first...

With so much to do between turns, a few minutes processing doesn't bother me at all in this game, not like the grand campaign in Pride of Nations, which I wish would run just a bit faster on my laptop. I wouldn't factor it into the decision at all - it's a great game, nothing quite like it, except m...

Thanks for the replies, guys. What are your thoughts on the historical war plans? I always felt the Schlieffen Plan as originally formulated ("Keep the right flank strong!") was a risk worth taking in a two-front war, but even if everything went right, I imagine the logistics would've unraveled befo...

How will you win the war to end all wars?

Will you join the cult of the offensive? How will you exploit your breakthroughs, and achieve operational and strategic victory? I think I might focus on the Eastern Entente, take a page out of Brusilov's book: launch wide front probing attacks to find the weak spot then throw your large reserves of...

Ah, wunderbar! I could never get WW1 Gold to run well on my laptop, so I hope an AGE engine Great War title will be just the ticket. It's not letting me vote right now but I'd go with To End All Wars. Price of Glory is catchy but sounds too... preachy, or like a game show, whereas To End All Wars ev...

They are a bit of a white elephant in game as they were historically, which is to say they are costly out of all proportion to their usefulness and I would imagine tank combat actions were few and far between in the real war, but they look cool and that is important.
