Ditto GraniteStater - without slavery, no Great Civil War. Period.

Kind of simple really.

I know I am a Unionist, but still - if slavery never existed what would motivate such a clash?

As Puritans, attack and attack some more.
As Pequots, attack and attack some more.
Use the ability to totally destroy enemy towns.

All of Hobbes great scenarios pre-F&IW also use VP from Pillage.

I am probably not the best person to reply to your post as I never play versus AI. I play both sides if solo and I do not have a real opponent. Otherwise, I only play PBEM. Espana is such a gem. This is a conflict which rarely sees a great game, and Espana is a great game. This game is such an accur...

I hope you love AGEOD games as so many others do. Pillaging happens when more units are in an area than the supply of the area supports. There is a pillage special ability, but this is for forces you want to destroy the supply of an enemy region. Forces just pillage, they like doing it. You do not n...

Foreign Entry is when France and Spain come to the assistance of the Colonies. The Colonials can send ambassadors to Europe to speed up the process. Likewise, the British have a few options to delay foreign entry. So no settings, per se, some options for EP spending, and very many French and Spanish...

There are not videos equal to CharlesOnMission's work for the American Civil War, but several AAR tutorials are available and well done

WIA covers all American wars from the earliest Pequot War through the War of 1812. Great game covering a wide historical time span.

WIA is a very good place to begin for several reasons. The leadership, supply and underlying routines of prduction and such are more direct, that is, less complicated. WIA has been well suported and is viable as a current game. If you are a diehard fan of the Americn Civil War willing to face an int...

Don't you think most gamers of Civil War II, play the long campaign versions rather then small scenario's? I realize the smaller battles are better or the newer wargamers, learning the system. More time should be put the longer campaign. I have another question. When creating a division why can't w...

Somebody with better tech sense needs to chime in. For me, the basic game installed, then during the same install, I was presented with a new window asking for me to once again accept the license; that is the 1.03, I think.

You need to make sure when you get the second installation sequence that you are pointed at the correct folder. The default folder may not be where you actual game files are. The 1.03 file is part of the download.

Search for the perfect ACW game

I have had a decades long search for a game which perfectly emulates the American Civil War. I did find one board game which seemed to meet this quest. Until now, not a single computer game has lived up to this dream. Now I have found one. ACW II is such an excellent simulation without constraining ...

Windows 8 is not like earlier versions. You must insist you are the admin even if you already are. So whe...

Well - another option is multiple installs. I do separate settings in separate installs because I love hard activation, but most players hate it. Victory is a mix of territory and wins in battle. To get a major win, not like other games. you need to be king of the world, not just better than AI or your opponent

Mostly this is due to the opposing side holding a fort or city in the region you are in. This raises the ZOC issue, that is, you do not control the region.
