II Scope

The war aims of the two sides were pretty much absolute. The British aimed to capture St Augustine. They planned to hold the entire colony until the peace, or destroy it if they couldn’t hold it. The Spanish aimed to wipe out the new colony of Georgia, which was in their view, illegally established ...

I Narrative

Nice summary here Here's my summary of what happened historically. Throughout the late 1730’s both the British colonists in Georgia and the Spanish colonists in Florida had been anticipating a conflict. Both sides fortified and gathered reinforcements in anticipation of the coming conflict. On Octob...

War of Jenkin's Ear in Florida and Georgia

I could have them included, BUT (no small but!) there are two key elements I would miss: * detailed OOB for this * lack of proper units bitmaps (and relevant sources), as I guess uniforms were different back then Well I took this as a challenge, so I've compiled information on OOB and uniforms for ...

Against the AI you can use the navy to try to sneak valuable units out of beseiged ports. A human shouldn't let you get away with this, but it allows the navy to be of some use.

It's always been this way (sort of). The first levy always takes place in July 1776 (for both sides). All militia received before that date are scheduled reinforcements that have nothing to do with who owns which cities. I guess that some of the scheduled American reinforcements in 1776 are not arri...

I'm pretty sure the alliance part is a Frenglish thing. Historically the alliance was signed in February. In the game there is no alliance to be signed, French intervention just happens. The fleet arrives as soon as you get the French intervention event. I think the check is monthly, and it's modifi...

It's not militia that gets the bonus inthe wilderness it's irregulars (rangers, moutain boys, courreurs du bois etc.) On cavalry I either keep them with the army (when it's in clear terrain). They are quite useful as scouts in clear terrain, when kept in evasive posture. They will rarely get caught ...

You need supply chits in excess in the region to recover hits, and one supply chit is used for each sub-unit (element) that need to recover hits.

Very nice.

BoA map - Quabbin reservoir.

Because I love to nitpick this fabulous game.

A check on google maps shows that the lake in the Westminster Massachusetts province (which has no effect on the game) is in fact the Quabbin reservoir, which was built in 1939. :)

7. I assume a defensive posture in the same region with an enemy fort/town will not produce a siege-correct? No, you can be sieging a fort and expecting and an attack or sortie. Don't you have to start the siege in offensive posture. For example, as I understand it, if I enter an area with an enemy...

It means your units will fight at a penalty because you don't have enough command capacity. 5% means they fight at 95% and so on.

I think what Runyan99 says has sense. But the thing is that maybe it doesnt affect to the overall result of a game. I find that hard to believe. Delays will allow weaker armies to escape more often, and make battles a little less likely to occur. In a short scenario this may not matter, but in the ...

That would definitely help out the rebels. But what if one of the armies is able to leave the area in seven days? Would there be a chance that no battle would be fought? If so, even better for the rebels.

Hampton Roads gets its name as a Sea Lane through the region into the Va. Capes to the Sea, and into the Bay onto points beyond. Are you sure? Not sure I buy that. Sure Howe took his time, but he was able to act agggresively. The New York campaign shows this I think. He fought in stages with long delays to plan and prepare before embarking on the next stage, but he was certainly comfortable of closing with the rebels and did try to bring a...

I can see that situations can arise where making it impossible for an inactive general to enter enemy territory all sorts of bizarre results could arise. By and large the American Revolution wasn't a war of fronts and rear areas, but rather a bit of a free for all. Especially with regards to the bat...

if you enter a region in offensive mode (because of the rule you speak about) while inactive, you can suffer up to a 50% combat penalty during battle. Against a weak garrison, you won't have problem, but do that against an army, and you are dead... That's nice. I had no idea that this was the case ...

Here is how to fix the rule. What needs to happen is that non-activated leaders who are given orders to move into 95%+ enemy controlled territory (or hell maybe even 50%+) simply ignore the order and stop moving. This would keep non-activated leaders from moving freely about the map, and going into...

A simpler (and I think more realistic) tweak might be to reduce what generals can do when they are not activated. In particular their movement could be reduced to 33% rather than 50%, and they could be prevented from detaching any troops. One of the things that help a human British player immensely ...

1776 Scenario request

I have a request for the next patch that I think is quite simple. The start of the 1776 campaign is not historical. Depends on loyalty. If the area is loyal to you (more than 50%) you don't need to occupy it. If the area is loyal to your opponent you need to keep a unti of regulars in the area. Inside the town or outside, doesn't matter.
