Yellowhammer-Runyan99 match

I have preliminary results for the first game of the Yellowhammer-Runyan99 match up in the second bracket.

Runyan's rating goes up to 1032, while Yellowhammer's rating drops to 1023.

Ratings report for the end of Round 1

These ratings reflect player strength ratings at the completion of the first bracket. They do not reflect the results of any games in the second bracket. I've done these rather hastily, and while I've exercised what I consider to be due diligence, there may be small errors. Any revisions will only b...

It appears that values have been transposed

I'm a bit confused by the stats, gentlemen. As listed, it appears that the USA has won... and yet, Daxil has been defeated while playing as the USA. I've used the stats as listed below to calculate the ratings, except for swapping the VP values between USA and CSA. (In other words, I've swapped the ...

To whom it may concern...

My apologies to you, if you've been disappointed because I haven't updated the ratings in many weeks. I dropped the project because I assumed that nobody was particularly interested in the idea. Why work on a project of little interest to anyone? However, lately I've received new motivation to updat...

manufactuer's battery life claim <> reality

... Some say it will add about 5% to battery life, and with a 7-9.5 hour estimate that is significant. I am thinking about getting a spare battery, but with a 9.5 hour life, one might be enough... I've determined how to convert the manufacturer's claims of battery life into an estimate of actual ba...

Thanks for helping my wife

Thanks to both of you, Gray and Calvinus, for your advice, effort, and help! Your Alt+Tab suggestion was a good one, Gray, in dealing with the memory leak of Mae's Colonization game play, and so this was the first thing that we tried. (I'd never heard of the technique, until you suggested it. :) ) H...

Cutting power consumption

G'day all, does anyone play AACW on a laptop? I can't imagine it's much of an energy hog, other than display? I'm thinking of getting a laptop to take on a 14-hour flight and subsequent travel and this would be a very good chance to get in a really good session of AACW. Am I going to get to play fo...

Would you please repair this thread by moving the discussion of artillery to either a separate thread, or appending it to an existing artillery thread?

Thanks.

a Combat Results Table, and the Diplomacy table... I've already told AM, but for benefit of those who don't know: many of the tables can be found in spreadsheet form in the "Modding" subdirectory of the game's program folder on your hard drive. That should suffice until additional appendices can be...

What a superb thread! :) "Frontage" I believe is the mysterious issue. I'd intended to whip out the analytical toolset on the topic after "finishing" artillery; but it doesn't look like I'll need to. Hi, Lew! Two significant ideas regarding AACW Artillery have recently been developed on these forums. You should know about these, because they're far from obvious. Here's the first. For a long time, many people had believed that there was a limit of four artillery per division. Common knowledge sai...

Per the changes for v1.13. 5.) Reworked the 6 lb Artillery to "TechUpg"rade to the 12 lb Artillery. Also removed the "TechUpg"rade for 12 lb Artillery. This was my attempt at subtle humor. That post was in response to Jarkko, who's signature says something along the lines of "there are three kinds of people: those who can count, and those who can't". :)

I think too many players waste too much time thinking of what would constitute the "perfect" division. If you're playing against anyone that's worth a dang....you won't have time to put that all together. I just buy the units I can afford...send them all to a rallying point...and then organize from...

Vote "No" to militias

I don't know just how bad ratings militia should have for them to not be superior to infantry. As it is, I consider it pretty much stupid (from a purely effectivenes point of view, no role-playing POV factored in :) ) to waster resources on infantry. The only thing you get is a bit better militia, ...
