Why not Manassas, Richmond, or two (one? three?) steps of seniority. A long list requires the Confederacy to play defense all over when the real goals were the opponents capital or army.

On December 8, Corps under Kearney opened battle against Edward Johnson' corps. Theophilus Holmes' corps from City Point provided support, while Lee's force at Manchester did not join in spite of desperate calls from Holmes, who took overall command when he arrived. Additional corps under Buford and...

By the end of November, 1863, all fronts seemed to be in a stalemate and ready to overwinter. In Virginia, the Confederate forces were stretched from Fredericksburg and Albermarle to Petersburg, with corps of two or three divisions in most regions. Union generals took notice of this and called for o...

On October 2, 1862, Nathaniel Lyon's Army of the Southwest finally gathered the courage to attack General Magruder's force at Fort Smith, south of Fayetteville, Arkansas. The attack came after a fleet of six ironclads under Admiral Porter had reached the area and could proved water-based artillery s...

After its victory at Culpepper, McDowell and Hooker followed Beauregard's retreating army into Albermarle County, Virginia where they ran into another of the great disasters of the war in a force of about 50,000 largely in a corps under Longstreet, who was not engaged in the previous battle. Napoleon tells us that "Geography is destiny", and it is through the crumbling extent of Confederate controlled geography that in mid-1863 Unionists were predicting the future demise of the Confederacy, even as Union newspapers decried the enormous loss of life in the war. [I'd like to add one more note about generals and especially corps commanders like Kearny. I ignore the general's statistics as best I can, I'm not sure I should really know these things in a historic sense. I prioritize giving divisions to leaders with the highest seniority, and if a general leads ...

Lee did everything right and still lost. Nice work by Kearny. Each stack seems to have Divisions led by the usual 3-1-1's with one or two Divisions led by better commanders. If you took all of the better commanded Divisions and put them in one stack together with Kearny or Grant in overall command....

I do not have the answer, but I have some thoughts. For what it is worth, most of my fixed DC support units were lost when you (Straight Arrow) stormed my capital. I've put support units into a division for one turn so that a commander wouldn't lose statistics in the next turn when their combat unit...

Look at the actual !BattleLog file. I've studied a few. The hits are recorded one at a time and I've never seen negative hits on a unit that was eliminated. Firing stops when a unit leaves the battle. Unfortunately, since you have quite a long battle, the report is probably truncated. The graphic m...

Also, The Confederacy is up by about 60 NM (75 to 133 as of January 1, 1863), so if the Union eventually wins, the...
