I definitely hope that the battle reports can be more interesting to watch and give the player some more information as to what happened during the battle although I am wary of getting too much information. I am worried that too much information would turn battles into a science rather than an art....

Enjoying both LPs so far. Gilmer, have you figured out that Aid from the Pope option yet? Just a bug or are the conditions not being met for activating it? I'm not really sure what was going on there, but at some point he just gave me aid. And now I have not seen him for awhile. I wonder if I need ...

I think you are on the right track. TEAW - Turns are 15 days and the war goes on from 1914-1918. Thirty Years War is turns of 30 days and goes on for well, 30 years, 1618-1648. The first few turns of TYW (I will use abbreviations from now on) go by very quickly because it is mostly a small rebellion...

You should probably withdraw your army if you can't realistically defeat the HRE. Does it make sense to have been attacking? Probably not, but that was historically what they did, I'd imagine. The Protestant rebels were defeated historically.

the sound of battle keeps playing over and over continuously. Also, I am playing Campaign as HRE and Pope Gregory never gives aid. I click every time and I never see message giving aid, and he is always available next turn. I am using Widows Home 10.0. I have a Radeon HD 6570. 8 GB of Ram. i&-2600S ...

Let's Plays on youtube

XTRG is conducting an excellent Let's Play of Thirty Years' War

And I am doing one as well. Probably not quite as good as his.

I know it seems like piling on. Is "Ask the pope for help" supposed to work automatically if you choose it, or does it have a chance to fail? Based on my observations of playing the West a lot and watching let's plays and reading AARS, I think the CP should mass just about everything they can on the west and drive for Paris. Russia is too freaking big and you get lost in there. Seems better to keep a smaller front on the border of Germany...

Thanks! I had a lot of fun playing it. Rise of Prussia will always be a favorite for me because it was the first title I bought and actually played. I had the original American Civil War but just could not get my mind around it. Too much going on. This one had just the right amount of units.

I give enough spoilers to my opponent as well. :) I suppose I would play differently next time, but good learning scenario overall and all game options are available from the beginning. Good grief! Is this how it always works with AGEOD titles? As far as I know, the game was only announced in May, and now it's been released with no real run-up. I'm used to Paradox, which announces games about a year in advance with a target quarter-year, and then gives you a release date several w...

Yes, I have the game and I have to say no offense to other titles, but the artwork in this game is the best so far.

I wish I had known this before doing my let's play. The Russians sat out the war. I eventually pulled them back because supply was zero at Koenigsberg. I then kept He...

This is an older thread but I'll answer as what makes it good as well. If you play Prussia, you have to be very good at strategizing on using your forces. You are attacked North, South, East, and West. You only really have enough troops to stop two of those fronts dead in their tracks. You have the ...
