Re: How to lose GNW in 3 turns ( as Sweden)

Meanwhile, on topic, players might note that it appears that a consequence of the Swedish troops being tele-transported back to Karlskrona is that they are then fixed for 2 turns. So it pays to only take over the minimal necessary to achieve the Travendal Peace, which, appears to be that part of Cha...

Re: How to lose GNW in 3 turns ( as Sweden)

Words and usages are complicated and VERY context sensitive. I'm prepared to learn that 'Russky' is offensive to Russians 'in general', or even some Russians, but it's not offensive to the Russians I personally know, and a quick look on-line doesn't yield any clear consensus, as far as I can see. It...

Re: How to lose GNW in 3 turns ( as Sweden)

Thanks. I've now managed it quite easily, getting the card unlocked and played during the July 1700 turn. Magic. Just in time since the Russkies are going for Narva already.....

Re: How to lose GNW in 3 turns ( as Sweden)

Have you actually done it PhilThib? I'm assuming you have. Can you confirm it will take at least 2 runs to get 100 units across?

Thanks for those! I had no idea you could do that.

Is there a key to make all units hidden in structures appear? Instead of having to go round and manually click on all of them?

Re: How to lose GNW in 3 turns ( as Sweden)

Really? 2 turns. Charles army has a weight of around 400 and the Karlskrona fleet - including the boats in Riga, and Gothenburg - can carry around 200. So to get his entire army over is a matter of 2 turns after he has become activated. Building transports from turn 1 doesn't really help as they wil...

Re: Outofeight gameplay review

I think - as a beginner - that it's more about what tutorial videos are available. For me the best sets of videos were for CW2. The tutorial videos for this (WoS) and TYW are ok, but pretty basic. I used to respect James Allen's reviews a lot more before - way back, before he started all the videos....

loading armies onto fleets help

Is there any quick way to gauge if a certain force will fit onto a certain fleet? I assume the 'weight' figure for a unit is the relevant number, and the 'transport' figure for a flotilla/boat. But when you have a huge stack (the Swedish army, for example) and want to board it on another huge stack ...

Re: graphics issue

I'll try that too. Thanks. I've also found that I cannot load all textures at start ( a different setting to the pre-caching setting you suggest above, I believe) because the game hangs at start if I choose that, despite 8GB of RAM and nearly 350GB of available hdd space. However, somewhat boringly,...

It doesn't have to be just Charles XII's army crossing over to Zealand (Sjaelland), right? You can also cross over down in the south to get the units up to 100?

limits on town occupation?

Is there a limit on the number of units that can occupy a city/town? I don't mean the warning you get when you scroll over the little circle in the elements box and are told that you are stationing, say, 75 units in a town with a max of 25. Because the game has, up until now, still let me station un...

Re: How to lose GNW in 3 turns ( as Sweden)

Novice question: Aren't all the Swedish naval assets frozen for the first three turns? How do you knock out Denmark with all your Navy frozen? For that matter, aren't the Swedish forces across the sound (including Charles XII) all frozen also? I would appreciate a kind of rough blow by blow explanat...

Re: textures slider

Saved them (many times - I've tried this many times), and they save ok. File not read only. If I put a number 3 (or even 4) in the relevant line then the slider (in game) reverts always to the position in the photo. If I slide it in the game it stays there, then I close the box and when I re-open it...

textures slider

The textures slider seems to snap to 'large', no matter what I do. See the picture. It snaps to the position you see in the picture, despite the dialogue suggesting 'very large' is the default. No amount of messing around with the preload or memory available buttons gets this to change. I can set it...

differences in water colour

Why are some of the water tiles dark blue, others light? Is this WAD? The difference does NOT correspond to different water types - ie light blue for coastal, dark blue for ocean. Nor to whether there is ice etc. It could correspond to whether the region is 'in fog of war' - is that it?

Are we talking about WoN or Napoleon's Campaigns? I can see nothing like this in WoN. I can see both in Napoleon's Campaigns.

Setting the history aside, I'm not sure what you are saying about my questions, Capn Orso. That nothing like bridges and roads are destroyable?

On the history - I'm sure you're right (of course) because I know very little. But Farragut had 10,000 men? On boats?

Novice - Corps creation help needed.

Watching hours of videos to try to learn various things. Amongst them Spink Akron's C&C tutorial. So, following that, I open up Shiloh and then try to create Corps structures with Grant's stack. But I cannot get the Corps button active. Can anyone help me? I don't seem to be able to post picture...

Plus 1 and bump on the hide units question. It would be useful for surveying terrain. Does it exist? So far, I have been just gently moving units aside so as to be able to see towns beneath them. Be nice if there was a button. Is there?
