@Salarmax I will take your "BAIT" this time. Let me start by classifying those battles into - B1 (Normal), B2 and B3 (very easy) and B4 (easy). Now- 1. B1 - You were defending with favourable terrain modifiers (reduces frontage) and with a Fortress and had more Artillery (of the Medium and Heavy kin...

Unless you are fighting too deep in Russia or you have a massive army in the Balkans, avoid building DEPOTS, it is too expensive to build. In the Western front you do not need it as long as you can capture the BIG towns and the main "Railways lines". The railways are the key to the WW1 battles. It w...

@Salarmax I think you are a new player, so i will not berate you with boring page long rebuttals but will provide a few pointers- 1. You are defending using the German Army against Anglo-French troops, the Germans have more experience at the start and are also slightly better than the French in 1914...

Maybe - Artillery "counter battery/defensive" fires need a big boost (maybe 1.5 times boost) and unit weights esp. of Artillery needs to increase heavily, maybe keep the men at same weight but double the weight of all artillery guns (inc. light ones). In, MP i do agree with ACE, on the Western Front...

Maybe a garrison type division instead of militia should do the trick, division should have good defence but poor attack and should be very slow to move around. Can call it - Territorial for the Allies and Landwehr/Landsturm for the CP. Can be having 1/2 manpower of corps but no officers/planes and ...

Hey Altaris, Great to hear that, but one doubt- How do you define the "Home Areas?" German Armies fought the whole war (except a brief time period in 1914) on Foreign soil and Russians almost wholly on Home Soil (except in 1914 and then again in the immediate aftermath of Brusilov Offensive). Austri...

If you manage to get them all or even half to POLA, you can target the French MED fleet, also MED fleet targeting doesn't anger USA, though it is quite difficult to do this.

There was an event in the old "LGG game" called - DIPLO POKER or something. Basically, CP (read: Germany) chose to forego the initial advantage of the 1st August Turn, this meant that France and Russia delivered War Declarations (all mobilised and Austria attacks Serbia). Following declarations of W...

@Drake and others- I love it that people see war as a series of Tinpot soldiers meetings and not as something more. Economics is almost always ignored by many Historians leave alone non-professionals. The reason, Prussia didn't do a fast and loose tactic in the Napoleonic Wars is simple economics. W...

Prussian Expansion - Prussia gobbling the Low countries was quite impossible, they couldn't even manage to defend their own lands against the Napoleon-Davout onslaught in 1806. We are not playing the 7 year war, by this time instead of Frederick the Great they had an incompetent on the throne. Even ...

Philthib has already clarified in another thread- Only 2 Major Factions (not sides) - One led by France and other by England. As per my knowledge you will get 800 Manpower in Jan 1916, the last lot. You must have got 1200 in Jan 1915, WE also gets 1000 each in 1915 and 1916 EE gets some 800 & 600 or is that 800? Anyway, by mid-late 1915, Russian manpower starts running low, coupled with their ammo problems, they shouldn't ...

As PhilThib, says a combination of bad Weather and primitive conditions did hurt the French advance (as it would later hurt the German advance in 1941) but more importantly what hit them most was the absolute resoluteness of the Russian army in defence of the 'Rodina' (this is a key factor seen repe...

Actually the literacy rate in russia went up drastically in the 2 decades before WWI. In 1914 about 42% of the population was literate, but that number hides the fact that women were disproportionately much more illiterate than man (orthodox religious priests and schools of course...). Meaning that...

If poor Ivan is sent into battle with one. This bit of pedantry may come as a surprise to you and several others- Contrary to the popular notion, the Russian army was decently armed and had sufficient artillery. Norman Stone's book is a starting primer on this subject. For eg: The Entire German arm...
