the next one is French with typical cut for the uniform (soldiers were better protected against winter as seen by the possibility to close completely the uniform) but i don't know why but it looks like a 1720-1730 soldiers because the lower part of the uniform is "detached" (détaché). For what I kn...

That means Florent probably won't have the pleasure to see the painting of Frederick used by Matrix on RoP's box art as well.

That Highlander made my day :happyrun:

Although there is no sword hanging from the belt, and the tartan should be attached over one of the shoulders. Bah, I'm just nitpicking, great design and great details! :o

After all, to each his own, and you're definitely not alone here. I do alternate between both kinds of games, and the breaks always ensure a fresh co...

Ok,I'm going to make a wild guess  Based on the few blue jacketed soldiers, and on the mustache they all have, I'd say this is the Prussian roster. I just don't see the two redcoats from the middle row as British units (no mustache there at that time, and the hat trim of the line regiments wa...

Actually, those 3D units look professional and polished enough for me to question whether to play with portraits or 3D. Although portraits might still win simply for ease of gameplay :) I especially like the UI, that seems slicker and more polished than ever. I absolutely love the top part! Ok, exce...

I was thinking to something along those lines. Offering honours of war should be traits related, as you plan to do it. But the ability to accept them should also be trait related (or any other way, but linked to the officer). For example, if A is besieging B. A has the 'honourable' trait, and so is ...

No misunderstanding, everything is very clear. Uuh... Ok. Seriously, I'm sorry if I offended you :( Anyway AFAIK, was not gpepper himself the artist who too created NCP graphics? "Ooooh! Burn! That's a burn about a burn! That's a 2nd degree burn!" :D Edit: I didn't see that smiley before answering....

The idea sounds great!
But I fail to see the point, as far as gameplay is concerned, of most of the options left to the besieged player (let alone that of getting the honours of war).

I don't have much time now, but I have a few ideas on that. I'll try to post them later today.

Actually, I far more prefer those 'cartoony' graphics to those of NCP, which were and still are the reason I have not bought it. To me they look more flavoury, and while I agree that photorealistic graphics are great (the ones added to AACW after release come to mind), if pushed too far the concept ...

Duffy's The Military Experience in the Age of Reason is a classic. A good one. But as aryaman said, it is a summary of everything that happened then, so not many details there.

In comparison, the American “secondary theatre” (French & Indian war) has lots of very promising general histories. The funding for academic research in North America is almost equal to that of Europe. But while Europe's history is pretty dense, that of North America is nowhere near (as of now). Th...

Be aware though that Osprey books' quality vary greatly from one another, and while those dealing with units and battles are usualy good enough, the ones on general history may not be up to standards. For what I remember, the one on the French and Indian War is not so good (use of outdated concepts,...

Where there is life, there is hope :D

The process sounds a little tricky. So there is one file that has all the main messages body, and then there are different files used for each game's specificity. Is that correct?

"Meaningless" seems indeed a little rough around the edges, and would belong more to a newspaper article or a historian criticizing the outcome of the war, rather than to the treaty ending it. Considering then that, as you said it is often impossible to carry on all of your objectives, which is high...
