I just want to say how it's such a shame that this game has the problems it does. In so many ways, it is masterpiece...but in so many other ways, a nightmare. It's so beautiful, first of all. And it's so immersive. The game just invites you into the Napoleonic era. For me, it can feel like I'm step...

Do you have the same bug with the latest Steam patch ? Eastern Entente is no longer showing a portrait in scenario selection: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=758135243 Yes there is that graphical bug where the Tzar portrait disappears and is replaced by red/white/blue roundel....

Central Powers and Kronprinz War Plan GHQ Issue

I have run into a problem in a PBEM as CP using the latest version, which is 1.04 (Beta Patch 1.02 April 2016). For the first time, we tried the Kronprinz Plan, which is the German attack through Switzerland. This plan places the Kronzprinz, Rupprecht Von Bayern, Seniority 94, as starting head of th...

1.03.01 is what is now current on Steam. But we had problems with patching it into an ongoing PBEM, so we put 1.04 beta atop it...and its working now. It is confusing. I wish the Steam and non-Steam were better coordinated and explained as to what you should have as most current.

Good points Monsieur le Marechal! The Wars of Succession should be very much wars of fortresses and fortifications. I think you could add all the fortresses and still keep it fun by adding more siege-related RGD and creating new siege-related abilities for leaders and units. This would create a min-...

I suspect the PBEM issues are a function of three game dynamics. First, I get the sense Hannibal's abilities were balanced based on complaints that, in games against Carthage controlled by the AI, he wasn't a big enough challenge. So they made him a God, which means that in PBEM in the hands of any ...

I don't want to force you to reveal before you are ready, but this is great news. BTW if you do an up...

But, there is already a RGD to recover NM Yes...it gives 1 NM. Contrast that with the NM balancing events/mechanisms in RUS and AJE, many of which are automatic/don't cost money. No matter, our PBEM just ended - Nationalist 175 NM, Republicans 35. The Republicans still had more combat power (even w...

In my pbem games of this I seem to remember that Rome rules the seas. Makes a naval expedition for Hannibal almost impossible...... Carthage has a strong economy and can build a decent fleet fast. I suppose the Roman counter is to build their already-strong fleet even stronger to overmatch it. Alon...

At first there should be an increase of NM each turn for 'republican' side, then it stops once the militarization begins (no there won't be a new world), and too the guerillas made into new military units should have even less cohesion (combattants no longer fight for their own liberty) so they're ...

NM and the Campaign

I am wondering if any thought has been given to adding some sort of morale balancing mechanisms. The reason I ask is that, in a PBEM I am in, the Nationalists have concentrated a huge force under Franco that is marching relentlessly in the northern area, vaporizing any Republicans unlucky enough to ...

Hannibal Campaign PBEM - Some Thoughts

Having played to a decent length several games of the big campaign of Hannibal as Rome, I am getting the sense it is not very balanced for PBEM. Here are some observations: 1. Although the game events seem designed for Hannibal to march over the Alps, in PBEM typically Hannibal lands by sea in south...

I'm not 100% sure how surrendering generals are handled in HAN, but if you can't find them hiding in a nearby city then they may be dead. I didn't see any of them appear in any city, so I assume they are all gone for good. Good advice then is never let any leader be sieged, just let them get wiped ...

Thanks for this fine list! Two questions from the perspective of Roman side PBEM: 1. The Roman general named Scipio that starts the game - he is the one with the "5" for defense - is he also the same Scipio that will become Scipio Africanus later on? I noticed Scipio has an event that states he rema...

Just curious about Poland historically. Most games make Poland seem like a terrible place with no food. Was it that bad? How did the Poles live and maintain their independence? I realize they did lose independence for a while, but at one time they had a huge Polish-Lithuanian empire. Like everyone e...

Thanks for the response. In our game so far (late 1757) the near-dead Swedes are besieged by Prince Henry. The Swedish Wipeout

Just curious how Austrian side players in PBEM handle Sweden. In the game, their army is isolated in the north, locked for the first few turns. Even if you get the major reinforcement, their corps commander cannot be used because there is no nearby army. Their uncommanded force is commanded by leade...

Russian Armies Enter in Locked Region

I am playing a PBEM (2 player version) as Austrian side, ROP Gold v. 1.11 - the latest version on Steam. In early July 1757, a huge Russian army enters in the Polish region of Wierzbolow. However the region is labeled locked and impassible, so the Russians cannot do anything further. This is just af...

They do for some, I believe, but they are fairly minor penalties, depending on the size of the city. If they make a CW3, I'd love to see them give more attention to the political considerations and restraints faced by both Lincoln and Davis. I realize there is some of this with the On to Richmond r...

I am not certain I agree. The CSA can staff down through the division level with leaders better than 3-1-1. The USA cannot even staff at the corps level without using 3-1-1 leaders. I think the timing here was key. The massive assault with Grant on Manassass was launched the turn before Lee was act...

Against veteran Union player, it's very tough. Gray Fox vs Mickey AAR is a nice read what happens when Union puts everything east under competent leadership. It is not impossible, but very tough to do some damage to him. Try not to spread your Corps too thin. Don't spread them 3 regions wide, that'...

Just Curious - Any Way to Stop An All-East Union Strategy Featuring 3-star Grant?

I am finding playing CSA in PBEM quite challenging. Both times I was submerged in the East. The first time was mainly my fault - it was my first time playing CSA and I didn't do well on build strategy or the economy. The second time, though, I don't know what I could have done differently. Grant app...

I have a couple of questions on the White event options if the Komuch falls. 1. Can the Directory or Military Dictatorship events be played even if Omsk is in the hands of the Reds? 2. If a Military Dictatorship is established, and then Omsk falls, does the fall of Omsk cancel any ongoing effects fr...

I am pretty sure the tool tip is correct.
I am not certain what to suggest. Are you both in the exact same patch?

Yes, I have confirmed we are both using v. 1.01. Strange.
