to Korrigan: Well here in Finland we know very little about these wars. Not much literature is translated. Thanks for the answer as it's very informative and I'm aware of the French outpost strategy as it made the French better with their diplomacy concerning Native Americans. So Ft. Frontenac was a...

Rangers are irregulars so they cannot capture forts or towns. Only British Light Infantry (who are Irregulars also) can do that. My solution to your dilemma is: 1. Move a regular or militia unit to the fort in question in order to capture it (pref with a Fast Mover -leader) or 2. Take the supply uni...

French reinforcements in FIW GC?

Has anyone played as the French in the 55-63 Grand Campaign so you can tell me if the French get any major reinforcements after Montcalm has arrived? Some historical sites claim that the French recieved some significant reinforcements during 58 or so. I have only noticed these: 1. April 1756 additio...

Ok I played a test game with 1.06.1 installed and defitinely no Amherst in sight (March 1759). Looks like the FIW scenarios need a complete overhaul as far as Brit leaders are concerned (Look for the other concerns in my post above). Some examples: Braddock has the rank of Major General but is a 3 s...

Also the map for the FIW scenarios should be updated as to resemble the 75-83 map as far as historical accuracy is concerned. Case in point: Charlotte in Virginia. to Korrigan: Do you think that Frontenac is presented accurately in Revolutionary scenarios (Fort destroyed, a small garrison, La presen...

One solution to help the Brits at the beginning of the Grand Campaign would be that their militia doesn't disband when January 1756 arrives. I usually lose all my New England & New York militia at that time. With 1.06.1 installed I haven't lost any of my colonial regular regiments (what a relief!!) ...

Just suggestions as we are now talking about FIW:

Maybe put level 1 ports for Fort Rouille and Fort Niagara so that the French may move their little forces more efficiently at the Lake Ontario area. It would give something to do for the French Ontario Flotilla.

I haven't seen Amherst either in the 55 GC. Some minor complaints about the FIW scenarios: 1. Typo in the New York Bateaux unit (New Yok bateaux in the unit card). 2. British leader Forbes spelled Forbres in his unit card. 3. British leader James Murray is named Thomas Murray in his unit card in the...

Anybody tried Fields of Fire from '98?

Fields of Fire -War along the Mohawk (1998) from Empire Interactive. A "strategy game" but with an emphasis of about 30 mission levels playable from both sides (French & Brits). You choose first your side and then get to pick your own character from Indians (Iroquis, Huron etc.), colonists, British ...

I think its' importance has been recognised as it has an reinforced garrison at beginning of the GC. However it's very difficult ...

One of the problems with AI in FIW scenarios is that "she" goes after the locked Indian tribes & villages instead of more important threats as French armies or raiding parties and forts. In my recent games the AI completely abandons Fort Cumberland which is a huge mistake and concentrates her forces...

I've restarted my Rebel campaign of 75 since I installed 1.06.1 and The Brits and yanks both take towns in a logical way ie get a breach first then assault if they have the numbers. Well, there are 1. reinforcements that are represented by new units ie. new militia called up, new regular regiments raised, foreign aid (French & Spain) and 2. replacements in form of companies/squadrons/batteries/ships to replenish your battered units in the field. Which ones are you talking about?

I'm not sure but I think that log entry is connected with the 1st Rhode Island Militia Regiment. Hi!

I was trying to make a purchase for the direct download version of BOA but the site (AGEOD.com) doesn't seem to recognise my logins (hotmail - account and password) when I try to confirm my order.

Am I doing something wrong?
