Damn good question. Just tested it and on the basis of a single run, if Germany goes with Schlieffen and France with Plan XX , Belgium begins August allied to the Central Powers. Perhaps further testing might prove that it's random, but right now I'm concentrating very hard on not letting the Russia...

That was my first thought, pants, but no. I'd put move orders on some individual leaders and if they'd been combined with Tirpitz those would have been cancelled. Nothing I'd seen before either - it happened after I'd plotted moves for some of them, saved and closed the game. On restart there it was. I can fix it easily enough by going into the text, but the fact that it happened in the first place indicates that there's something wrong somewhere.

There are twelve of them (6 German and 6 AH) and they include luminaries such as Leopold von Bayern, Eduard von Below, and Rudolf von Osterreich.

I have a cabal of generals (two in fact) purchased under the "Appoint generals" decision who appear to find the lush life of Berlin and Vienna far preferable to accommodation at the front. Over the two months since their call-up they have remained diagonally barred and stubbornly inactive....

Agree entirely - one of the things I like most about AGEOD games is their reluctance to "dress up" just for the sake of it. It's also why I'm so frustrated with this particular game's inclusion of all manner of elements that are nowhere explained - but by now that's an old story.

You'd have to reckon that the additional structures provide additional benefits - otherwise their inclusion would be for colour only and that would seem to buck the trend for AGEOD designs. But the number of views without response is a fair indicator that nobody really knows.

Ahh - in that case I'm afraid I don't have much to offer. If we're to believe the description in the tool-tip it seems obvious that since it's not attacked itself the locked unit wouldn't be released. I can't recall any instance to the contrary so I'd go with you on that point.

Okay, this has gotten way too opaque. As noted above all the German units starting in Breslau are identified as being inside the fort. As I recall the tool-tip says that they remain locked for the specified period unless attacked, so it would follow that they can't assist neighbouring units while still locked. I don't think so. It's much like building units - when you elect to build a munitions plant you're presented with a screen that permits you to nominate the province in which you'll build it.

From a little play testing I've just done it appears that munitions units will replenish at rate of around 6% per day when lodged in a supplied city with the required stored munitions. I wouldn't be surprised if this varied with city size, between cities and depots, and with province conditions.

A list of the factors affecting ammunition (and general) supply distribution can be found on p.64 of the manual but there's no mention there of how it's allocated among competing demands. It would certainly be nice to know but so far nobody's telling.

Yep, a very gentlemanly arrangement and all that's required to avoid frustration and aggravation. Of course in order to come to that arrangement it's first necessary to know that it's required, and the fact that there's nothing in the manual to indicate this is extremely frustrating and aggravating.

Arrow has just pointed me to a 2015 post by BBBD316 indicating that Hindenburg doesn't get the call-up if Russia doesn't invade Germany - presumably fairly early in the time line.

Much appreciated the assist and, what a surprise, hugely critical of the lack of documentation in the manual.

January 1915 in a one-on-one game as Germany and Hindenburg is notably absent. The Moltke replacement event fired as normal with Falkenhayn arriving on cue, but Prittwitz has stubbornly refused to surrender his command. Any ideas as to the cause?

Yep, me too. Thanks again - sums things up nicely. Trouble is you don't know that it's going to happen until it's happened and you then have to wind back the turn, try to identify where the cross-over has occurred, then unpick the movements involved in the hope that they don't create new cross-overs...
