I installed the January fifth patch, but when I launch the game, it says that it is still the December 21 patch. Did I actually install the patch? Mine says Jan 5, so I assume yours didn't take. Is there by any chance a separate "Matrix Games" folder inside your WoN game directory? If so, then the ...

The game is perfectly playable by normal human beings. Experts, nit pickers, and OCD types may experience life threatening issues. :) Folks are making some really constructive progress on identifying, not only the problems, but the reasons and potential fixes for them. But that only happens when pe...

This all great stuff! It really isn't that difficult to get help on things like this. My nephew has a start-up software company, and he routinely hires university students to assist in discrete coding projects. In this job market, students are often willing to "intern" for free just to enhance their...

I'm not an expert on history, but most of the minors in central Europe either became Satellites or were annexed. The in game events allow for French Annexation or Satellites of Papacy, Sicily, Holland, Rhineland, (which encompasses more than one minor between France/Prussia), Westphailia, Hannover,...

Ok after this I really think I wont be buying any more products from AGEOD, like, ever. Period. This... this is something else. Wow. I dont know how one can spend money to support a company that makes products that dont even work, but that's subjective I guess so all well and good. The things said ...

Hi again I am not impartial, having spent many hours working on AJE, specially with latest 1.05 patch. IMHO, if you like the roman age, AJE series is very good. Perfect ? No, but pretty d*** good :) I am specially fond of HAN, if you are interested in the second punic war there are very few games d...

As far as I remember between WW1 Gold and WW1 CE there is only speed improvements (which still good improvements of course) as I own both of them. But gameplay improvements patched before it become WW1 CE as far as I remember. You're right. WWICE added a new 1917 scenario and changed the artwork a ...

Harshness simply in the hope of being heard. Sometimes even the best of friends require an intervention. Better to tell them what they need to hear instead of merely more of what they want to hear.

Someone sued Digital Froggies, the company that released WWICE, at the very same time as TEAW came out. I don't claim to know who, but the timing is what it is.

Wait, apart from WW1 Gold, all their games work. Sure, some could be better (AACW perfection never repeated), but they do work. I am puzzled to read about failing to play a turn without a CTD. No such thing on my computer. I do sometimes sense they perpetually judge effort (time spent) vs result (b...

I don't think it's an issue of commitment. I think the main issue is a mix of habit, limited programming expertise and a difficulty to admit that change is needed. But at some point you know you're selling games that no longer work - and you're asking a shrinking cadre of die-hards to pay for them....

It's hard to tell if they are going to continue to try to fit a square peg into a round hole. If they do, they will continue to alienate and eventually, they'll build a new game and no one will come. If I were them, I'd stabilize WON, fixing script issues as they arise, and then work on a new engin...

Surely gentlemen officers traveling as individuals should not be obstructed in their passage around Europe except through countries of an enemy. Perhaps if the game were a tourism simulator. But aimlessly wandering units, officers or not, are hard to justify in a grand strategy/war game. Just the f...

In all honesty I don't think that any game developer has had a real success with this period of history and I had such high hopes that AGEOD of all companies would from the start. Waiting for WoN, I've dusted off Crown of Glory Emperor's Edition. It's an oldie, but very fun. It's set at a prehistor...

Not according to some of the critics. And I doubt it is as complex as WON. No diplomacy. Only two sides. No building units, etc. By the way, I'm playing it :) Complex is good only if it works. Birth of America was AGEOD's Decisive Campaigns: Barbarossa - a wonderfully original game that the AI coul...

My 1898 edition of Moltke's Franco-German War came with so many pages uncut it was unreadable. Volume 23 of the Richard Bolitho series has no page 107. It goes 106, 108,108, 109. Volume 12 of the same is missing a paragraph that an older edition had. I think it's silly to expect a "polished" comput...

AGEOD has developed a reputation for making games that look fantastic on release but don't play as intended until after several patches. Folks by now tend to know that going in.

The purpose of this forum isn't to pump the game or flatter AGEOD. It's a place for open discussion. I think most of the criticisms of the game have been entirely appropriate and useful. I don't think criticism of the AI has been preponderant. Rather, errors in scripting seem to have been the focus...

Bocage Image Missing

When I mouse over a Bocage region, the panel where the terrain graphic is displayed is blank. It's says "Bocage" but there's no graphic. The others (Clear, Woods, etc.) work fine.
