Just curious. We still haven't received the first official patch for the game although there has been a public beta patch available for a long time. I'm kind of waiting for the first official patch to come along before I really get stuck into a real campaign. I think the beta patch is a solid one a...

No you are right, its just I've most often played with the Austrian side and even by mid-game you are still short of EPs, so losing a brigade activation and having to spend EP to regain it is a cost to avoid. Equally I tend to find that by 1761-2 I've lost enough of the army that CPs as such are no...

A new question. I was playing the Saxony scenaio as recommended. I was given the messages that several generals were promotable and their names were highlighted red in the ledger. However, when I looked, I couldn't find any promotion icon. Are promotions enabled in this scenario and if so, what am ...

best is to note the names (from the event file) and then find them on map - I forget quite the mechanism but I think it is a flashing medal. In the full campaign, from about 1761 onwards, its not always a good idea to promote (you may need more brigadiers than corps commanders for some armies) But ...

In general it is perfectly possible to reattach units from an inactive commander to an active commander and then use them in an attack. I do it all the time in different AGEOD games. Unless the strict activation option is used and the passive stack is locked. So what the OP describes is unusual, esp...

Strategy and Tactics

I have been playing SCW as Nationalists into spring of 1937 now, and I wonder about general strategy for both sides. Following what I read about the war, I first connected the Northern and Southern areas, consolidated the South and attacked in the North. I didn't launch an early attack on Madrid, be...

I don't really know, but I guess that artillery cannot be just recruited, bust must be acquired abroad, for which there are some options earlier in the game.

I think it is similar with tanks, which only come with foreign forces.

I've been away from AJE for a long time, yet have noticed the release of the newest campaign pack. How good are the Parthian scenarios? Are they challenging in SP? I have played the Crassus scenario several times against the AI and failed to win until to now, both from the Roman and Parthian side. ...

The Nationalists are short of War Supplies, so I looked on the supply map and saw a production symbol with 2 WS in the region Villarcayo. But when I had conquered it, I still had a production of only 2 WS per turn. So it turned out that the production icon in the Villarcayo region actually belongs t...

You should use a dieroll to make that decision, then you cannot be outguessed. But back to the topic, II would advice anyone who wants to play a two-player game at the moment to play the four-player game and give three faction to the Austrian player. I just did a quick play of the latest version in 2-player mode, and the entry of the Russians is indeed broken. The only anomaly I see here is the plural of corps... unless you already consider those mean sacrificed! :p :-) I vaguely suspected that it might be wrong when I wrote it. In the Prussian setup of the 2-player grand campaign there are some anomalies in the command structure. In two corpses - Links Kolumn in Bautzen and Markgraf Karl Korps in Dresden - the Korps commander also acts as Division commander, while a free junior 2-star general is present in both corpses. I ...

Yes, they are.

At least in PBEM.

I have played them in a 4-player game, and Prussia was defeated, with Russians (and Austrians) in Berlin and Frankfort.

I haven't seen the AI move the Russian armies towards Pommern though in several test games.

You can create armies in mid December and some divisions (5 armies and 5 divs with the nationalists). Later you can make lots of divisions. For the republicans is very similar. I dont undertand the second question, yoy can see units like leaders. In some older games you can switch between Forces and Units in the F1 screen. Not sure what you are suggesting here? Are you agreeing a "unit" (or stack in AJE) should travel as fast as it's slowest sub-element? No, because I think the speed is determined by the speed of the baggage, a slow minority of units can use the same baggage facilities as the main force. And the fast...

An army travels at the speed of its baggage train. So I don't see any reason why different parts of a regular Roman army would travel at different speeds at all. Travel speed and tactical movement speed are entirely different things.

Resupply cities under siege

It proves to be pretty easy to resupply cities under siege. Supply trains under evasive orders will generally succeed in entering and leaving cities under siege. Even putting a cavalry unit in attack mode next to the siege force doesn't prevent this in general. I wonder if this is really by design, ...
