Let me check this Erik. It was not meant as a complaint. The Nationalists won two major battles and got Bilbao. I think reinforcements for Bilbao were diverted by an indecisive spoiling attack from the South. But I was surprised that it would be so straightforward. Two hops and it was over. (I have...

I just finished Antony Beevor as well. Left a bitter taste in my mouth.

Anyway, I started to play the game with the Northern scenario, and to my surprise, by just assembling the forces and attacking towards Bilbao, I got a sudden death victory in May.

Divisions

In the Fall of the North scenario the Nationalists start with a couple of divisions. The 1st Division under García Valino consists of 13 battalions/regiments plus general, while the manual states that 8 units (40 elements) is the maximum, and indeed, when I dissolve the division I cannot recreate it...

Saxon Surrender

I played the opening of the 7-year war campaign as Austria against the AI, and Saxony surrendered on turn 3, but the condition mentioned in the event, Prussian control over the three road regions around Pirna, never happened. The messages were: - Prussia sieges Pirna but accomplishes nothing - Saxon...

OK, it is no big deal, but I was just trying to test these options against the AI instead of experimenting in my big PBEM. But can anybody explain what the 'Surrender' option is supposed to cause? I saw nothing happening in the AI test, but I also tried it in my PBEM game, and there I also didn't se...

Hi Erik, are you sure you are on the latest patch, those RGD's didnt work in the release version of ROP gold but they were fixed with patches. Yes, I am running the latest patch, and I have tested some time ago that at least the HoW decision now works in multiplayer, but this time I am playing agai...

Hi Is this screenshot from the first turn?? i have noticed in some scenarios the info about loyalty don't fully works until you process one turn. For example in some regions it may say it has 50% loyalty to one faction but doesn't mention who owns the other 50% loyalty until a turn is done. Yes, it...

Why is Loyalty not displayed in every region?

I am starting the Mercenary War as Carthago, and I noticed that some objective towns were not controlled because the local loyalty is not above 50% and there is no regular garrison force. So I started to look at the loyalty all over the map, and I noticed that in Southern Spain all loyalty data was ...

I have looked at the HostLOg file as well and I see that the following weather logs are created at the very start and at the very end of the turn. (snip...) I don't understand how these values translate to the actual sea region, but I do know that some sea regions are ALWAYS more likely to experien...

A blue screen is - on 21st century Windows systems - generally not a program software error, but driver or hardware. Maybe overheating.

If you check the HostLog file, you can see that weather is set once for each turn (30 days). So I didn't understand this answer, and 'hit by winter' meant hit by the already existing winter? http://www.ageod-forum.com/showthread.php?32896-Playing-the-Russians&p=294780&viewfull=1#post294780 When I r...

I think what you see on map is the wheather on the turn that has just finished, not the next turn. So you have to make your orders without knowing what the weather conditions will be when they are executed. It's always risky to move around sea regions prone to storms :bonk: Keep your fingers crosse...

Honours of War

The Regional Event 'Offer Honours of War' still doesn't work completely correctly against the AI. I offered HoW to Kassel, next turn I saw the message string name 'offer_honours_of_war', next turn the message 'ongoing_honours_of_war' and the third turn 'unkown event type 198'. (actual text may diffe...

River blockade

I am playing a test game as the French side in the 4 player campaign against the AI. When I check the river zone Rhein - that flows along Wesel - the tooltip shows that one needs 6 naval elements to blockade this zone. The Rheinflotte in Köln contains 4 naval elements. However, when I move the Rhein...

You can't only do a sum of all loses troop? and victory pts ? For me is more simple with that no? (For win with victory pts France/Austria/Russia can't win in solo I guess...) We are now a few years into the PBEM four player campaign, and game wise I must say it works pretty well. Apart from the Vi...

It's always better playing against AI than humans. Humans are horrible. They are either useless, if you beat them easily; or gloating bully boys who just know the rules better than you. And they actually get upset if you blow up their favourite boat/tank/plane/horse in what they say is an unrealist...

River blockade and

Playing the Parthians against Crassus, I want to defend by using boats to block a river crossing. It seems to work, but I can't find any rules about that feature. Does the posture matter? I use Offensive posture, but is that necessary? When Roman forces enter Oshroene (Northern Mesopotamia), Oshroen...

Hi Emx77 I too have brought up how odd it is that the AJE map does not show players where apparent invisible obstacles between regions exist. Well, it seems that you can see them while planning: if the connection line turns up white the path is extra difficult. Even just hovering over the area and ...

But I may even have started a new game in this session after breaking off the previous one.

Playing the Crassus scenario a few more times, I saw that the Roman AI did in fact move Crassus' army towards Parthia in the 3rd try. The first two times he just stayed passive in Byzantium. Looking at the example, the white line seems a very hard to impossible connection: the one to the North East enters the sea without a harbour, so it is in general impossible to move (unless entering a fleet at the shore), and the one to the South was the path that takes 64 days, so an almost impassa...

The Parthian commanders have a property that they don't perform well outside the "Parthian World". Is that only the brown area "Parthia & Media" in the "Grand Regions" overlay? After playing a bit longer as Parth against the Roman AI in the Crassus scenario, I still only saw small Roman forces, so I opened the AI side, and I saw that Crassus with all his legions is still sitting passive in Byzantium.

Is the AI unable to make a strategic movement towards the theatre of war?

I am misusing this small besieging force as Parth against the Roman AI, after I noticed playing as Roman that the besieged units were not able to sally forth to help the Roman relieve force. And the Roman AI doesn't move them out either. It still takes a long time to starve the rebels, but in the en...

Seleucia harbour

A few minor remarks after much fun with the Crassus scenario. The Seleucia harbour symbol is painted on the Euphrates, but in reality it is located on the Tigris. So the game treats it correctly, it is just confusing when the symbol is painted on the wrong side of the city. The fact that the rebels ...
