Do blockade squadrons count as "passing ships" for forts engaging them, so they get shot at every turn if seeking to blockade? Are there nuances to how this works?
One misses corps both for Command reasons and evening out losses within each unit. Having divisions or smaller front-line units means they are liable to be targeted and wiped out in a hard fight rather than just absorbing losses along with the rest of the "unit." When there are only divisions and a ...
It is rare but had the same "lack of transport"-driven problem in PON when an occupying power agreeing to peace. Ships transporting troops were involved - takes a prior save or reconstructive scripting surgery to spawn those units again.
This is already being looked at. In another thread I reported a few days ago Spain without any DOW option to exercise its CB against Georgia arising from Georgia declaring against France. I wondered if it might be a monarch rating or satellite issue, but France's ratings are high.
Same thing in the new game with Spain. Spain gained a casus belli against Georgia: "The defensive treaty we have with France give us a Casus Beli against Georgia, as they are attacking our ally." Spain's treaties in effect indeed show Black Cloud 5/10 Spain > Georgia but with Georgia as the target t...
1. Cities of importance and multiple structures can have substantial automatic garrisons that muster to arms when facing an attack. Improving the fortifications or detaching a brigade (maybe one that is battered and in need of refit) are ways to protect it more against raider-size forces. 2. Good id...
6. (Small) leader ability tooltip for Good Population Administrator should add "controlled" before "region" as it appears to work only in controlled regions.
5. (Small) Move ledger position up 1cm on screen so the Ledger tabs are not overwritten by the stack tabs of the selected unit - the more unit tabs, the worse it is.
Interesting thoughts. A reasonable number of turns to leave the country and supply rights should be an automatic part of peace treaties, though indefinitely long passage/supply rights would be a separate issue.
Thanks to Pocus! Auchmuty's field army (disguised as a supply train) at Gibraltar heading for Seville is not addled wanderlust but high strategy. Once he drew Spanish forces through the bad weather to maneuver into position to his north and between him and Gibraltar, he marched expeditiously across ...
The last beta patch loaded and the game runs but errors out to the main menu in turn processing, suggesting that indeed it is not save compatible, which makes me a little sad as I really wanted to continue to 100 turns or so at least to see how loyalty-building might affect peace treaty options and ...
By the way, PhilThib, what are the rules about what may be asked and given in a peace treaty, and how can claims to land arise or be created so it could be taken in WON? Someone mentioned something about holding a capital and some cities or objectives, depending on the size of the defeated power, bu...
Revolutionary France would probably mean guillotines in Westminster and flames of war through Britain. L'Empereur, however, would have to treat a fellow monarch in a respectful and honorable way, seeking to first and foremost seek concessions that have the British officially legitimize the Bonaparte...
Brilliant, could not agree more. For annexation, it should be like that for smaller minors (1 to 3 cities), while the bigger ones like Denmark, Sweden or the USA should take a few wars to fully annex. Cannot wait to see it. Would be more than happy to test it both in SP and PBEM. I do not know how ...
There's always the more relaxed Spain - start building a second Med transport and get the armies organized to besiege Gibraltar and launch a series of short victorious wars beginning in North Africa.
On the 18th ver I was getting access errors. Tried the 19th version and I just got the "At least one non-AI opponent has not submitted his turn" box, but this is just SP, so something may be awry.
The quality of the players and AAR promises to be very high - I'm looking forward to it. It has inspired me to write up my own rather brief notes on my first foray in the game - as Spain in 1805, of course. I've picked up a good idea from you already - using sloops to run blockades with distinguishe...
Be careful where you install this. It installs a Wars of Napoleon folder into the target folder. If the game folder has that name and is installed in a Matrix folder, then pointing to Matrix would be the thing to do. In my case, the game folder is just WON (long path names are hazardous), so I'm goi...
As a junior partner in a war, I assume the senior partner's peace disposes of everything so a separate peace is necessary to press one's own terms with one of the other belligerents, such as keeping points-generating objectives taken. Is this right? The general question is how, other than claim even...
HELP! I had weird unit changes after updater crashes before the last update went in so want to reinstall it all but keep the game settings and saves. Please can you advise which files to copy and where they are? Also, is there anything outside the WON folder that should be deleted to prepare a reins...
SUBSIDIES and PAID RECRUITS Quarterly wartime subsidies to allies or co-belligerents for a term of years or the duration of the war would be more in the spirit of policy of the time and make more financial sense than odd one-off payments. Mechanics for reparations are already in the game and I mysel...
Other than putting the game in Programs under "WON" the install was to defaults, so wherever the game sticks the saves and settings should be usual. I'm getting some weird behavior such as allied French units appearing and then my Spanish ones turn blue when I try to move them, and also newly built ...
If cash can be given other than in reparations, I think it should be limited to a subsidy treaty that siphons cash periodically for the duration of a war or a term of some number of years.
