Civil War tactics were based on Napoleonic tactics Perhaps you've heard of Waterloo But in the Civil War I don't recall it happening other than in the final act where armies disbanded/surrendered. The closest to that comes to mind would be the aforementioned case of Hood's forces after Nashville. I...

Minipol, I think what he is asking is if putting all artillery in a divsion is optimal in the game but this is not what happened in the Civil War, then isn't this a problem in modeling the period? I am curious as to what the AI does? If it were optimal to put artillery in a division, would it know?

This could happen if you put the general in charge of stack composed (or partially containing?) of locked units... Does the slash go away if you remove the general from the stack?

I think they will release it on April 1st, and the new major entry is going to be the move to a "open world" map, allowing the player to roam over the map in the first person.

Odd thing is that the AI doesn't spend it. I usually see Athena (on lieutenant) have 600+ in the bank for $, Con, and WS. Actually, WS is usually over 1000.

While waiting for the Californias to make it to the battlefield, I have used Carson with calvary + mounted volunteers to run behind the CSA lines and take and destroy forts, leaving a very small supply line for the CSA (and later me). He also flips the control of the areas to build a wall of control...

How would one go about removing the access from Currituck Sound into Albemarle Sound (or whatever it is called in the game). I am not completely certain that this access existed in reality, especially if it meant letting the Union into the interior of the Out Banks uncontested. Even if there was a c...

Thanks! One last question, is there any way to see who much supply/Ammo I am generating total versus how much I am consuming per turn? By "consuming" I mean that they that it made it all the way to units and was used (not just pulled to a depot, etc.)

AT first I thought this was a bad/ahistorical thing. Upon relection, this seems to work as it makes taking New Orleans and other port cities that much more important. Just taking New Orleans shifted the numbers dramatically to my favor due to all the industry that the AI built. If I blockade a port ...

Im playing on Lieutenant

The roll over text nor manual mention anything about a production bonus. I guess I'll have to ramp up union industy to keep pace.. I was already maximizing the transport fleet for WS/$$, it made up for WS but they were making for money 410 to 491.

CSA production

Playing as USA in Jul, 82. I kept noticing that the cSA seem to be always buying industrial enhancements and the rather large stacks I seem to be facing. The stacks didn't bother me as much, but I just thought that the cSA would have difficulty upgrading their industry seemingly every turn. I loaded...

Definately one of the features I wish they would add in the future would be a Leaders screen, showing you where they are and what they are in command of...and since we (or rather I) am on wishes, it also be great if they kept a track record of their performance or just a list of battles fought.

USADistantBlockades.sct question

Was looking at the USADistantBlockades.sct file and had a couple of questions. ⋅ At first blush, it looks like there are many towns missing from the list. For instance, If control of Ft. Monroe blockades Richmond, Norfolk and Hampton roads, would it also not blockade Suffolk and City Point...

Athena Help

I do really enjoy the game, but for the second straight time (and I have seen it before) its Jan 1862 and it looks like Athena is giving me Richmond. The rebs largely abandoned manssass and seem to be concetrating on the Shenandoah Valley with a 1300 pwr Army and several smaller units. Meanwhile, th...

My gut has always been, put them in the city if you want them to stand to the last man (with appropriate combat status). If you don't mind them retreating, they can go outside. Also, I could have sworn once or twice that the enemy has snuck past my forces in the field and enter the city despite my p...

I am curious as to what others do with Fremont, McClellan and Halleck. DO they use them as generals, pay the price for promoting others, or wait untilthe better generals get seniority over them? I wish they could be happy as the heads of their respective departments..

WAD or bug?

RC9:

I have noticed that occationally, when i go buy units (F11), all the units are red meaning I cannot buy them. However, when I look at my resources, I should be able to. Other than lack of resources, is there any other thing that you need to have in order to buy units? Or is this a bug?
