Re: Trade and Missions

I don't think there is much you can do to force the pace early game. Your best early route to an Empire is to win a war and take a colony but the problem is that you probably can't even touch GB and may struggle against France? If you need to build prestige, you could gamble on a localised war with...

Re: Trade and Missions

And sadly I know see the first major bugs: Lost a thousand prestige without a reason. Just went from 5000 to 4000 in one turn. And Austria has an army 4 times as big as mine. Nice...

Re: Trade and Missions

I am currently in year 1857 and my is it hard to get ahead regarding prestige. I am on position 7 and France has an army 1.5 times as big as mine. My colonial empire is a joke, though I guess that's due to the missing options. Still, interesting game, though often I can only skip turns...

Re: Trade and Missions

Good to know! Should help me with the unifiction. Never tried to station troops anywhere else than on my soil. But isn't the war with France mandatory for the unification? Thought I read something like that here on the forum somewhere. Did not look into the event file, though, to not spoil anything.

Re: Trade and Missions

Oh, and one more question....I am running the latest patch 1.04.5 (I think). Is there anything else I should apply? Like modifications users made? For example some texts seem to be missing. Does someone have some kind of oversight? I have seen some mods in different threads, but can't seem to find t...

I second that! Would love to play a War of the Roses campaign with looooottssss of events and the option to behead my foes :)

Edit: And taking enemy leaders captive. That would be awesome!

Re: Trade and Missions

Ah, ok. Well, if there is no event chain that leads to a Greater Germany solution, I guess I will go the historical route. Such a shame. Would have been interesting :)

But as it is my first game, it will probably be challenging enough to even prevail...

Re: Trade and Missions

Thanks again, Loki! The London Protocol already fired early 1852, so the event chain is still on track. Good, I do not like to start historical wars without an event. Do you know if it is possible to reach the "Greater Germany" unification via events? I currently have the option to start t...

Re: Trade and Missions

I have another question regarding events. As I am playing as Prussia, I wonder if the war for Schleswig-Holstein is resolved via events? I am in early 1852 now and nothing happened so far. Does anyone know, if I have to declare war myself to start the conflict or does it still happen? Historically s...

I will definitely have a look at your AAR to get a better understanding of the economy details. At least my coal production and rail infrastructure are on the way already :)

Trade and Missions

Hello, I recently started to play PoN for the first time and as the game is quite complex I have some newbie questions :) Is there any way to see, in some kind of overview, which country produces what amount of goods? I am playing Prussia and one of my mission is to produce the most chemicals and dy...

Re: Poll. Future of the AGE engine.

As much fun as I had with the old engine, I think it is really outdated. I am a single player and Athena is just not up to that challenge. Not saying that I am brilliant strategist, but when you know how the engine works, it can hardly beat you without "cheating" (eg. penalties for the hum...

Fortified Cities

Hello, I have a question regarding foritified cities or castles. How do I know if a castle needs a unit to defend it? It happened to me quite often now, that a castle was taken by the enemy in the moment they entered the county, because no garrison was formed. Even castles with a wall strength of 3 ...

Re: Supply in ECW

Hello Leibst,

I do not think that it has to do with not enough supply carts, though I think it would make sense in Truro. I slowly should receive supply, but it just does not happen.

Re: Supply in ECW

Hi, never had a big supply problem in any Ageod game before, but in ECW something does not quite seem right. I have an army in Truro that consumes 44 supply per round. As I built a depot, the region should supply 14x5 supply points, but my army's supply pool does not fill up anymore and therefor the...

I patched it correctly, first 1.01, then 1.02. But seems that I face the same bug as mentioned in the thread you linked. I hope the plugin fixes it. Thanks for your help!

Dwindling Nationalists

Hello all, I started playing Espana '36 some days ago and chose the Republican Campaign first. Somehow the Nationalists AI has big troubles being a real adversary. It very seldom moves its armies and if it does they often move kinda aimlessly. But the real weird thing is, it loses soldiers even when...

Re: (BOR - Punic Wars) Roman Consuls Won't Fail Activation Rolls

I do not possess the HAN add-on, so I cannot comment on this. But in the other scenarios of BOR and PAR I have not encountered this bug. Seems to be a problem exclusively with this scenario.

Playing the same scenario at the moment and I think you are right. My Roman commanders are always active. Seems to be a bug.

Re: Cost of Armies

You are surely right when it comes to pbem. But I am mainly a single player gamer and here this game, at least in my eyes, lacks a lot. I played nearly all previous Ageod games, and this one gave me the least challenge. The beginning in Bohemia was a bit tough, but after that...it basically boils do...

Re: Cost of Armies

Hello Durk, I do not really remember when I began to experience trouble, I think it started around the late 20s, so I already had the Danish support fleet for some years. I will check the development of the game now and then and see, if a patch has arrived. I love the setting, but the game seems a b...

Re: Cost of Armies

Yes, I already spent everything on replacements. Well, over the course of years of course. But nevertheless, I only built 2 units myself and am having lots of troubles now, because even with a lot of attrition the maintenance costs stay at 7 gold per turn. I have set attrition to standard, which kin...

Re: Cost of Armies

Hi Durk, Yes, I only play it in single player (as every other Ageod game so far). I close to only bought replacements, though. Built two artillery units quite early in the game, but that was it. The troops the Protestants get via events and options are enough for SP, but I still have this huge attri...

Cost of Armies

Heyho, After finishing my Catholic campaign I started my Protestant campaign two days ago. Sadly, I have to say that it seems that this is the worst (balanced) game of Ageod I have played, yet. Besides the missing prisoner feature, which is a really weird thing, because obviously parts of it are in ...

Again, thank you ver muyh, Loki :)

I guess I will start with Prussia then. Would be my "natural" choice somehow. Though as I usually choose Prussia in other games as well, Russia and the Ottomans have a slight chance as well :)

Re: Which country to choose?

Hey Loki, Thank you very much for your in-dept analysis! Though it doesn't make my choice much easier :D Many countries really sound very interesting. Which nation do you think has the most scripted events? As I love those, I might eventually choose the one with most of them, as starting point wise ...

Which country to choose?

Hello all, After all the recent updates, I am close to starting my first game of PON (owning it since it came out). So my question is, what country should I choose for the most stable and historical sound (scripts, events etc) experience? I do not care about difficulty, as I played close to all Ageo...

Hey Leibstandarte, Well, it is no big deal to be honest. I was just cuious if I did something wrong or if other also had this problem. Though it is still weird that the generals are just sitting around, doing nothing. Maybe they should have died in the battle, but something is going wrong in my game...
