Re: Caesar Vs Pompey

Your cavalry will be able to provide some intelligence, just keep working with it. I do not play against AI, but you can tone it down a bit if that helps. AI is going to move for key victory locations with all its force. You have thought of a great solution. You now just need a force/army equal to h...

Yes two. Once the first one fires, if you are lucky, then the second fires, actually with a much better chance of success.

Think of the Gold Version as a new game. So much of the original is not in Gold as so much in Gold was not in the original. Gold is really a reconceptualization to the game. Totally new stuff to enjoyl

Yes, count the bread producing regions and find a way to bring them all to Rome. It is a challenge, but it provides some nice goals for you.

Re: Any suggestions on capturing Tsaritsyn?

You have selected a challenging task, but it is doable. The Eastern White, Komush, do have a strong navy which can be used. Taking Tsarisyn is a big challenge. Block any reinforcement routes. Blockade, as you know. Get a small eastern corps. Taking this city has been done, but it will take a lot of ...

You've got it. The Backup1 is your previous turn.
1 HST and 1 ORD are your current turn.

So if you want to backup, just use the in game option to backup. You are set.

Should do it.
I do not use Steam so I cannot help further.

But replay works for me with a conventional install.

Funny, but true, what difference do they make. They are much like engineers, they speed entrenchment and other building. You have likely never seen when a repair rail does not fire.

This is truly odd and nothing I have ever seen. Have you tried backing up to the turn before you paid for them and then advancing the game?

Re: The Problem of Plaisance [King William's War]

Ah ha, I think I know the reason for the problem of not capturing a region in which all the opposing forces are eliminated. In this game there are no regulars. Regions only change loyalty if a regular is present. In this game, only the British have regular units.

Re: The Problem of Plaisance [King William's War]

My guess is it is not really a bug, it is the consequence of the penalties of a naval landing. Penalties are severe.
I know you cannot do the same battle as a land attack, but your different circumstances in your second illustration shows a bit of the why.

Re: A few noob questions

1. Ships do this this if you control a depot or adjacent port. 2, Turn end. Supply is calculated upon where you spend the last turn. 3. It does actually increase this way, it is slow to do so. A none militia unit speeds the process. 4. Yes. But they are mostly scenario dependent. Usually structures ...

Re: Save game location

I am not sure about from within the game, but you can always use the create shortcut option for where folders are displayed. I use this to place all current games on the desktop.
So you could use it to place it in 'My Game' or wherever else it is convenient for you.

Re: Can anyone explain why I lost the campaign?

If the Red player understands how to form divisions and armies under political officers, which is a mystery to most players for a long time, then the game is very balanced. Maybe it is even slightly favorable to the Red side as a solid Red player can take advantage of the optimum options/cards. Thes...

Re: Can anyone explain why I lost the campaign?

I do think this game has very clear goals and objectives. I do find it odd to compare it to Strategic Command, which is a lot of fun and which I play, as Strategic Command is kind of a historical simulation with a lot of fudging and fluff, while Russia under Siege gold is historical simulation where...

Re: Question about munition wagons

Have you been building munition plants? In my play, it seems proximity to munitions plants is the key to refilling munition units. The supply/munition push system pushes to the next wagon/munition unit which then files before the push extends to the next closest region (usually by rail).

Maybe the best advice I got was to remember this game is actually not about winning battles. It is about annexing new regions to your faction.
You are not pro or anti France, you are pro expanding your faction's regions.

Re: Any Strategy Guides Available?

Many people have posted small insights into how to play, but I think this game is still new enough that players are still exploring avenues of best play. This is a delightfully complex game where no simple advice covers all. For instance, Austria is going to get creamed by France no matter what. So ...
