Re: Repeated crash to desktop

Try this as a simple fix. Log out every time you have done two turns.

Second fix, always run as Admin

Third fix, check your memory and graphic options.

Re: Another Critical Error Thread

I assume as you say you are on Steam you are in the latest patch?

Where is the game crashing now? Is it the same, when you run the turn or some other time?

Does it happen when you build a certain unit or play a specific card?

Re: AI doing PBEM Player Turn

Admittedly a bit odd. Did you see the normal AI run dialogue? That is, the minor nations not yet at war? Without the red paperclip of earlier games, it is hard to see if both factions have new ords. As I have never seen the behavior you report, I can only speculate, but my guess is your opponent cre...

Re: What does Veteran Activation Actually Do?

So if I attacked a 100% controlled enemy region with an inactive general I should see a -35% Command Coefficient in the combat logs? I don't. Inactive or active, the numbers are all the same in the logs. I can't find any evidence that inactive commanders suffer in combat at all. I hope you prove me...

Re: What does Veteran Activation Actually Do?

Whaaaa ??? So you are saying that a Leader that is given movement orders for a turn, and subsequently discovered to be inactive, simply moves as far as it can for that turn, with -35% movement? I've never played with Veteran Activate, but that seems laxer than Hardened Activation. Yes, it is laxer....

beta testing has started. Do not worry too much about not being accepted, it is kind of random. You will get into beta testing soon.

Without know more, it sounds like you are not running as an administrator. This is important. If it is not that simple, look at your game settings in Options and see if you have devoted as much memory as possible to running the game.

Re: What does Veteran Activation Actually Do?

Good discussion. I'm playing the 1864 scenario with principes and asked him about this. We've had 3 turns on Veteran and I've not seen a single unit with a general that didn't move when expected to move. I remember in ACW units with generals would be locked down a turn and they wouldn't move. Has a...

“- If inactive, presumably will have a movement penalty - does anybody know what it is? I assume this applies in both friendly and enemy territory. - If inactive, I assume there are combat penalties. Do they only apply in offensive/assault posture? What is the penalty?” You should play the middle of...

I am so sorry you are having trouble with the saves folder. What I suggested to my fellow player was to create a game and then rename it to something searchable. That is a unique name the search feature would easily find. Then once he found this game, to make a desktop shortcut. It has worked for hi...

Re: Question - Breaking Siege

This is complicated. You have mostly outlined the issues and the problems. However, if you hold, say in a defensive stance, and you win the battle, you should maintain the siege, but no guarantee. You may need to win the battle and restart the siege. Yep, not simple.

I think your English is very good and you explain clearly. My comment about being funny is that 100,000 Anarcho-Syndicalists militias were raised in Barcelona alone. It was a major industrial site. Indeed much of the Anarchist soldiers came from the peasant population of Spain, but this was not the ...

Re: Fallen Timbers - Tough Scenario Both Ways - Advice?

AGEOD victory conditions are often a bit of a challenge. They take a bit of getting used to. But when you finally achieve a victory, you will feel justified. Part of your challenge is that all scenarios involving Native Americans as a faction kind of change what happens with objectives and with earn...

The question, does it work well enough for new players as stated in the title is a head scratcher. Brand new to wargames, only with someone to help. This is really a complicated game in many respects. For example, learning to stack a political leader or commissar with each division is a challenge ev...

Well, kind of exactly like in the Ukraine, except in Barcelona it was an industrial model, not a rural model. There do seem to be two sorts of anarchists. The one I know best prefer collective non-violent actions. While syndicalism did have proponents in Russia, in Russia direct action was much more...

Yep, ditto arsan. Duel host must have same settings. Single host, only the host settings matter. What is more important, be in same game version. That is, if in different settings with dual hosting, one rule applies until the other player hosts, then the other settings apply - but no crashes just di...

Many of what we call anarchists in Spain during the civil war where a rarefied version, syndicalists. This was a collective, localize commune. Very different than our idea of anarchists as bomb throwers.
Very worthwhile understanding the differences stockwellpete explains.

gazfun - On this forum it is really in bad taste to use even mild insults directed against players. There should be a question for all games about how historically one should constrain play....

There is a method where you can get a reply in all games even if it is not easily accessible in the options menu. Use the Control ~ command and it will bring up an option where you can then use the 'replay' command if you know the file or folder of the game you wish to replay. Agree, replay in the o...
